Thank you to our 98 current members for your

continued involvement and support!

Beginning on Monday, December 10th, participating businesses are running 12 daily

specials through Saturday December 22nd. We'll encourage shopping locally this holiday

season by promoting these specials in several ways.

Local Radio Station KWJP 89.7 fm will mention each day's specials, we'll run ads in the

Osawatomie Graphic and Read It Free letting people know which businesses are

participating, all the specials will be listed ahead of time on our website so you can plan

ahead for your shopping needs, and we'll send daily e-mail reminders. Each participating

business will also be provided with a flyer detailing their specials, that they can display and

provide to their customers if they wish.

The deadline to participate is today, so we can have time to work with the papers on the

ads. Please respond via e-mail today, if you would like to be included. I will need your

specials early next week.

Let's work together to continue educating our friends and neighbors on the importance of

thinking and shopping locally, now, and throughout the coming year.

Countywide Chamber Checks

Recently, we were approached by a large local business interested in a Chamber Buck that

could be used throughout the county. They employ people from many different areas and

are interested in using these broader scope bucks as an incentive program for their

employees, and as a way to get them shopping here in Miami County more often. Several

of our members have expressed an interest in participating and we hope to have these

available for purchase in the next couple of weeks.

Similar to our existing Chamber Buck Program, these checks can be purchased and used

by the recipient to purchase good or services from participating members within the

county. To help distinguish between the two programs, we asked businesses interested in

participating in this new program to offer an added incentive, as a way to further

encourage usage. An example might be percent of purchase discount, free item with

purchase, buy one get one deal, etc. All "deals" would only apply to the face value of the

Chamber Check.

These checks will be drawn off a specific account that all Chamber Offices may access.

This makes it easier for you as it's just like accepting any other check. Anyone will be able

to purchase these, in any demomination, from any of the county Chamber Offices. An

attractive pre-printed slip will be enclosed that lists every participating business and their

special offer and will be presented in an envelope perfect for year round gift giving.

This program will be tracked throughout the year and evaluated at the end of 12 months

to determine it's value to our businesses. Thanks to those of you willing to join in and be

part of the intial trial!

December Chamber Coffee

The next Chamber Coffee will be on Tuesday, December 11th at 10:30am. Hosted by

Country Vintage Inn, this is a great way to network with others while getting to know this

local business better. Coffee and refreshments will be provided and I hope many of you

will be able to attend.

Christmas Festival Recap

The Christmas Festival was held on Saturday, November 17th and it was a great event!

With Partners in Education joining in with the City and the Chamber, we were able to

expand and fill up two gyms with Arts and Craft Booths. A visit from Santa, children's

activities, special deals from local businesses, free drawings and giveaways, live music

from local bands, a Christmas dance performance, horse drawn sleigh rides, and a lighting

ceremony made for a full day of family fun! The crowds were good and it took a lot of

cooperation from local entities to prepare and make this happen!

Thanks to the many generousbusinesses and individuals donated over 40 turkeys and

hams for the free drawings and there were many appreciative winners. In addition, we

also gave away a Boys and Girls Bike, two $50 Chamber Bucks, one $100 Chamber Buck,

and a Kindle Fire HD. Parnters in Education held a raffle for many donated items from the

booth holders, which was also a big hit.

A huge thank you to everyone that was involved for their hard work and dedication to this

community. These types of events should make us all proud to live in Osawatomie. Great

things happen when we all work together for the greater good. Let's keep that in mind as

we move forward into the new year!

The Chamber Office is not keeping regular office hours at this time, but we are still
