Gold Warranty 

The Getzen Gold Warranty covers all Getzen models (with exception of Custom 

Series instruments) and offers a five year limited warranty against defects in 

workmanship and materials on all parts of the instrument. 

Platinum Warranty 

The Getzen Platinum Warranty covers all Getzen Custom Series instruments. The 

Platinum Warranty offers a lifetime guarantee against defects in workmanship 

and materials on all parts of the instrument. 

Transferable Lifetime Piston Warranty 

The Getzen Company guarantees the pistons on all of its valved instruments to 

be free from defects in workmanship and materials for the life of the instrument. 

Should any piston defects occur, the Getzen Company will repair or replace 

the piston at their discretion.

Family Tradition Since 1939 

1939 - After two decades in the industry and 

ten years as Plant Superintendent of the Holton 

Company, T.J. Getzen left to pursue the dream of 

starting his own business. That year, the Getzen 

Company was born in a remodeled dairy barn 

behind the family home with three employees and 

no customers. 

During its first 7 years Getzen operated as a repair 

shop, utilizing T.J.’s vast experience in the field. 

The company quickly grew in size and reputation. 

Capitalizing on that success, Getzen introduced its 

first trombones in 1947 with trumpets soon to follow. 

By 1949, T.J. had introduced a full line of trumpets, cornets, and trombones. By then, the family tradition of 

instrument building was well on its way. The eldest of T.J.’s three sons, J. Robert, was Getzen’s Plant Manager 

while Donald and William continued to establish themselves working in various areas of the factory. 

Bob Getzen and Allied Music - 1959 

1959 - History repeats itself when Bob Getzen left 

the Getzen Company to follow his own dream. 

Just like his father, Bob was backed by 20 years 

experience in the industry, ten of which were 

spent as a plant manager. Also like his father, Bob 

utilized his vast knowledge and skill in instrument 

repair as the basis for Allied Music. 

That year, Allied Music opened in a 3,000 square 

foot building just one mile from the Getzen factory. 

The entire company consisted of Bob Getzen, 

one employee, and again, no customers. 

Over the years, Allied Music grew to be one of the largest wholesale repair facilities in the country. As it grew, 

Allied Music expanded to include a repair school and spawned Allied Supply, a repair tool, parts, and supply 

company. During that time Bob’s two sons, Tom and Ed, became involved and worked in all areas of the 

company learning the business from the ground up. The family bond with the musical industry was further 

strengthened. 

1991 - Finally after 31 years and two owners, the 

Getzen Company was back in the family’s hands 

when Tom and Ed were able to buy the company 

out of bankruptcy court. The circle was complete 

as the grandsons of the company’s founder took 

control. Eight years later, Ed Getzen sold his share of 

the company to his brother and Tom became the 

sole owner of Getzen.

Throughout the years many things have changed 

at the Getzen Company. Ownership, employee, 

and location changes have all worked to shape the company into what it is today. One thing that has never 

changed however is the dedication you’ll find at Getzen to building the finest, high quality instruments found 

anywhere. A dedication that is less a company philosophy and more a family tradition.

The 3001MV is the result of Mike Vax’s 40 plus years of 

trumpet playing experience. Together, he and the 

Getzen ProShop worked to develop a first class lead 

trumpet based on the existing 3001 line. The 3001MV 

features a standard 3001 body with the addition of a 

lower tuning slide venturi and lightweight bottom caps. 

This modified body is combined with a #172 lightweight, 

one piece, gold brass bell that creates a wonderfully 

rich and colorful tone with outstanding response.

Custom Series 


The 3050 trumpet is designed for the serious

band players looking for a bright tone from a 

free blowing trumpet. The optional #172 light 

weight, yellow brass bell will greatly increase 

the trumpet’s responsiveness and add more 

brightness to the tone. Adding a square crook 

tuning slide will tighten the slotting and add 

more stability in the extreme upper register 

without jeopardizing the free blow. If even

What happens when you combine a tried and true trumpet 

design with a sterling silver bell? You get the all new 900SB 

Eterna Sterling trumpet. The Sterling features the same trumpet 

body found on the world famous 900 Eterna Classic enhanced

Bb Trumpets 

After its introduction in the early 1960’s, the 900 Eterna 

rapidly became the most popular trumpet in the 

Getzen line. Unfortunately, 40 plus years of production 

brought along subtle design changes that altered the 

900’s personality until it was nothing like the original. 

Well, not anymore. Today, the 900 has been returned 

to its original design and reintroduced to the trumpet 

world as the 900 Eterna Classic. The legend lives on.

The 3895 Custom flugelhorn is the latest addition to the Custom Series small brass line. This new flugelhorn 

is designed around a .420” small bore valve set built to our world famous standards. The most important 

advancement of the new flugel design is the revolutionary Tone Branch. The new first branch (bell to valve

Explanation of Warranty Coverage 

(Gold Warranty = Five Years Coverage; Platinum Warranty = Lifetime Coverage; Valve Warranty = Lifetime Coverage) 

The Getzen Company, Inc. will repair or replace free of charge any part(s) found upon examination by Getzen to be defective in material 

or workmanship. The warranties do not cover instrument failure due to damage in transit, misuse, abuse, negligence of user, accidents, 

after market alterations, changing of factory valve settings, third part repairs, or any sort of investigative dismantling by unauthorized 

persons. The warranty does not extend to non-durable components such as, but not limited to, naturally worn finishes, rubber or plastic 

parts, valve springs, etc... Excessive breakdown of lacquer is covered for a period of three years whether Gold or Platinum Warranty. 

Players with high skin acidity should take preventative measures to ensure lacquer longevity. Crystallization or any other lacquer defects 

that occur within the 3 year period should be reported to Getzen immediately for repair. All warranty repairs shall be performed ONLY by 

Getzen or a Getzen approved repair facility. Getzen assumes no responsibility and this warranty shall be void where any after market 

modifications or damaging repairs have been made or attempted by others. Pistons and Axial Flow valves are subject to normal wear that 

is not covered under the Getzen warranties. Piston and valve maintenance and up keep are the responsibility of the player and should 

be performed regularly to ensure piston and valve life. The lifetime valve warranty only covers instruments manufactured after 1991. All 

warranties are transferable from original owner. The Getzen Company, Inc. shall not be liable for consequential, indirect, special, or punitive 

damages including but not limited to physical injury. Getzen shall not be liable for any dollar amount in excess of the product in question’s 

purchase price.
