A coherent and sustainable infrastructure strategy is proposed for the
Hersted Industripark. The masterplan will create a clean, healthy and vibrant
environment, and offer desirable quality of life for people, supported by the
infrastructure system with zero carbon, low waste and high quality utilities
and infrastructure.
An entirely new and flexible utilities infrastructure will be developed for the
masterplan to meet the long-term needs of the new communities. Energy
use will be reduced by buildings through high energy efficiency standard
and incentives by household and businesses. The smart grid system will also
optimise the supply and demand profile of the network to reduce wastage.
Energy will be supplied by a mixture of de-centralised energy centres
to match with population growth and centralised energy plant.
Other renewable energy technologies such as solar hot water
systems and solar Photovoltaic panels will be promoted
at building scales and contribute to the energy mix.
