RK&K’s Potter Is New Chair of CMAA
J. Michael Potter, PE, CCM, a principal at RK&K in Baltimore, MD, was elected chairman of CMAA
at the Association’s recently concluded National Conference & Trade Show in Chicago, Illinois.
Mr. Potter is in charge of RK&K’s Construction Management and Inspection Division. He began
his career as a structural engineer, and then joined a construction contractor where he served as project
engineer and project manager in charge of major building projects.
For the past 16 years he has represented public owners as an Agency CM on transportation,
building and environmental projects.
Mr. Potter earned his BSCE from Virginia Tech and his MBA from Loyola College of Maryland. In
addition to his role at CMAA he sits on the board of the Maryland Association of Engineers and is the
Chair of ACEC-MD Construction Services Committee.
William Heitz, CCM, President of Heery International, Inc. was elected CMAA Chair-elect. He was
previously the Association’s Vice Chair/Professional Practice and a member of its Executive Committee.
He is a graduate of the University of Tennessee with degrees in industrial management and architecture.
He is a registered architect in Maryland and Georgia and a member of the American Institute of
Architects.
CMAA also elected four new members to its Board of Directors: Stephen Ayers, FAIA, Architect
of the U.S. Capitol; Mark Cacamis, PE, CCM, State Construction Engineer at Virginia DOT; Charles Dahill,
Jr., President of the CM/PM Division at ARCADIS., and Kevin Donnelly, PE, Assistant Commissioner of the
New York City Department of Environmental Protection.

The CMAA National Conference & Trade Show attracted some 900 professionals to the
Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Towers on October 21-23. The 2013 event will be held on October 6-8 at the
Aria in Las Vegas, Nevada.
