Connecting the Combination Sensor

4.6 Connecting the Combination Sensor

For a measurement you must connect a Pt1000 temperature

sensor and a Phox sensor (delivered as a combined device) to

the relevant plugs of the PVPM1000C. For the measurement of

serial resistance Rs or I-V-curve only these sensors are

obsolete. The plugs are build in a way you cannot connect a

sensor to a wrong plug.

The combined Phox/Pt1000 sensor should be mounted near the

modules to be measured. It must have exactly the same

orientation (elevation and azimuth) re. the sun as the modules

have. Most time the easiest way is direct assembly to the module

frame. Please take care that the sensor will produce no shadow

on to the module! The sensor needs several minutes to adapt to

the environment conditions: the reference cell firstly must reach

the temperature of the module, before you can make a

measurement with the PVPM1000C (see chap.4.9).

4.7 Turning On

Turn the power of PVPM1000C on by pressing the switch

“Power” on the front panel. The control lamp “On” will show you

the presence of power from the accumulator or grid connection.

The PVPM1000C will no pass some self tests and will need

about 15 seconds of operation for readiness. The device is ready

when the main menu appears on the LCD-screen.
