Direct radiation/ diffuse radiation

13.5 Direct radiation/ diffuse radiation

Direct radiation (casting shadows) meets a surface without

scattering through components of the earth' atmosphere.

Through scattering (fog, haze, clouds) diffuse/ indirect radiation

develops.

13.6 Generator

Lat.:producer. Generators dissipate other forms of energy into

current. In solar techniques only the entirety of the

interconnected photovoltaic modules is characterised as

generator or as solar power plant.

13.7 Global/total radiation

Denotes the irradiation on the earth by the sun that hits a

horizontal surface. It is composed of the direct irradiation and the

reflected irradiation (e.g.: by snowfields).

13.8 Short-circuit current and solar cells

Current that circulates, if the positive and the negative pole of the

cell get connected, that means when there is no resistor or load

between the two poles. It is not dangerous for the cell, but a

disconnection might cause a light arc which is dangerous for

health and environment!

13.9 Mismatching

The connection of weak and better modules in a string, whereby

the weaker module in a row affects the current and that way

impairs the total power.
