Children will have a 10-15 minute break halfway through the class each day. Juice or lemonade will be served.
Children are allowed to have snacks brought from home. Due to higher number of children with peanut
allergies, please bring snacks that are peanut free. Thanks!

during participation in arts camp activities, I give my permission to the Arts Council to take my

Learn how to see with an artist’s eye and draw using
traditional drawing techniques involving perspective,
proportion, and value using graphite, pen and ink, oil pastel,

learn about the art history of places like Africa, Asia, Mexico,
South America and Australia and will create 2D and 3D works
of art using papier-mache, paint, cloth, and found objects.

Jewelry Making I with Constance Buchanan
June 25 - 29, 9am - 12pm | Ages 10+
Center for the Arts, Dalton Gallery
This class will give students an inside look into the world of
jewelry making. They will learn the basic techniques of
bead-stringing, metal wire-wrapped chains, recycled
products, polymer clay bead making, working with seed
beads, hemp jewelry, and several new poly-plastic products
used to make very unique and original jewelry. They will
make 5-6 finished pieces of necklaces, earrings and
bracelets. This is a fun class to take with your son or
daughter.
Trash to Treasure with Ashley Beard
June 25 - 29, 9am-12pm | Ages 10+
Center for the Arts, Classroom
Using the things that people normally throw away, students
will create works of art. Use a cereal box to create a
sketchbook/journal. Things like plastic bottles and cardboard
boxes make amazing sculptures. Recycled natural fiber
insulation makes a great air drying paper clay. Let trash
inspire the imagination! Learn how to make it for less and
better than the rest.
Painting Techniques in Water Media with Ashley Beard
June 25 - 29, 1-4pm | Ages 10+
Center for the Arts, Classroom
Learn how to create paintings using water-soluble media
such as the traditional watercolor and acrylic and the not-sotraditional
tissue paper and marker. Participants will create
representational and abstract works on paper and canvas in
a range of subject matter.

Jewelry Making II with Constance Buchanan
July 9-13, 9am - 12pm | Ages 12+
Center for the Arts, Dalton Gallery
This class is for student with some experience in jewelry
making. You need to know how to use pliers, cutters and do
simple wire wrapping (or have taken my first class before).
In this class, we will make a polymer-cane bead, bronze link
bracelets, a fancy wire wrap ring and earrings. We will also
learn how to use power tools.

Doing it “old school”. This class will use traditional film
cameras. We will learn to create artwork through the lens of
your camera and have fun doing it.

You can do more with crayons than color. This class will
focus on the fun and magical underworld of crayons such as
melting and making.
Drab to Fab Art Books with Laurin Patterson
July 23-27, 1-4pm | Ages 12+
Center for the Arts, Classroom
This class will alter books and make books from scratch.
We will learn how to create pop-ups and hide things within
books to fuel your creative side.

Mime & Pantomime with Stephanie Daniels
Registration Deadline: Monday, June 25
July 9-13, 9am-12pm | Ages 9-12
Community Performance Center
Students will take a journey through the world of mime,
pantomime, rhythm, movement and improvisation.
Stories and sensory exercises are used to increase
awareness, strengthen concentration and inspire creative
spontaneity and imagination. The course will conclude with
a performance for parents.
Shakespeare for Kids with Stephanie Daniels
Registration Deadline: Monday, July 2
July 16-20, 9am - 12pm | Ages 10-15
Community Performance Center
The course is designed to familiarize kids with the language
of Shakespeare and to get them comfortable with
performing on stage. Participants will rehearse and perform
scenes from various Shakespeare plays, engage in movement
and breathing exercises, work on their voice and diction,
and learn about the various aspects that go into creating
a theatrical production. The course will conclude with a
performance for parents.
