A.A.S. NURSING<br />

The two-year Associate of Applied Science degree program in Nursing emphasizes<br />

patient-centered approaches to nursing care. The graduate nurse is able to provide<br />

highly skilled nursing care for patients and families in a variety of health care delivery<br />

settings. The program of learning includes the study of clinical application of nursing<br />

theory and principles. The graduate is eligible to apply to take the NCLEX examination<br />

to become a registered nurse.<br />

A grade of “C” or better is required in MATH 1130 or higher level MATH prior<br />

to the application deadline.<br />

These classes may be taken prior to being accepted into the program.<br />

This program is designed for students who do not intend to transfer to a baccalaureate<br />

degree program. NOTE: 18 credit hours must be completed at <strong>Roane</strong><br />

<strong>State</strong> in order to meet the graduation residency requirement. (See page 61)
