Through the various divisions which support its continuing education and community<br />
service mission, <strong>Roane</strong> <strong>State</strong> offers a wide array of specialized courses, programs,<br />
and services. These range from rigorous customized training for business, industry, and<br />
public service providers to offerings for cultural, aesthetic, and recreational awareness<br />
and enjoyment.<br />

The Distance Education Office provides credit programs and services to support the<br />
educational needs of local business and industry. Courses can be offered on campus, at<br />
a business or community site during day, evening, or weekends in a variety of delivery<br />
modes.<br />
Distance Education offers flexible and convenient educational opportunities<br />
through the <strong>College</strong> at Home video and on-line courses as well as Regents Online<br />
Degree Program (RODP). Testing services for Distance Education students are provided<br />
through the Counseling and Career Resource Center on the <strong>Roane</strong> County<br />
Campus and on the Oak Ridge Branch Campus.<br />
The IDEA (Interactive Distance Education Access) live interactive system is also a<br />
part of the Distance Education program and links students and instructors through twoway<br />
audio and video transmission. IDEA classrooms, in <strong>Roane</strong> County, Oak Ridge,<br />
Campbell County, Cumberland County, Fentress County, Loudon County and Scott<br />
County, allow students to attend classes at the site closest to their home or work.<br />
