rent graduating class and who submit a scholarship application and also meet all<br />
of the criteria will be guaranteed an SAS offer. All other applications will be<br />
ranked by GPA and selected as funds allow.<br />
4. By June 30, <strong>2006</strong> or earlier, students MUST also complete the following (or forfeit<br />
the scholarship offer):<br />
a. Submit a college application<br />
b. Pay the $10 application fee<br />
c. Enroll in full-time college level classes excluding any remedial/developmental<br />
courses.<br />
5. Under no circumstances will a scholarship be “held” for a January or later<br />
enrollment.<br />
6. Students must maintain full-time college-level enrollment excluding any remedial/developmental<br />
courses throughout each semester.<br />
7. The SAS is renewable for 3 consecutive semesters if the student maintains a<br />
cumulative 2.5 GPA in college courses and works 75 hours per semester at an<br />
assigned RSCC location. Dual-credit courses taken while in high school will be<br />
counted in the cumulative GPA.<br />
NOTE: Some senior institutions may require a higher GPA for transferability.<br />
Residents of the <strong>State</strong> of Tennessee who believe they are qualified should submit<br />
the SAS application before the deadline date of March 17. These applications are available<br />
in the Financial Aid Office and high school guidance offices and MUST be certified<br />
by the high school guidance counselor.<br />
PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARSHIP<br />
This scholarship is awarded to one valedictorian from each high school in the <strong>Roane</strong><br />
<strong>State</strong> extended service area. To be eligible for the $1000 annual scholarship, the recipient<br />
must be recommended by the high school guidance counselor, be a first-time college<br />
student and must enroll full-time at <strong>Roane</strong> <strong>State</strong>. The scholarship must be used starting<br />
the fall semester following graduation from high school. The award is renewable for a<br />
second year if the recipient maintains satisfactory academic progress and a 2.5 cumulative<br />
GPA. In the case of multiple valedictorians, ACT scores will serve as the tie breaker.<br />
PRIVATE SCHOLARSHIPS<br />
<strong>Roane</strong> <strong>State</strong> has a limited number of private scholarships. In selecting recipients for<br />
these scholarships, emphasis is placed upon scholastic achievement, character, future<br />
promise, and financial need. The scholarship application is available online at<br />
www.roanestate.edu/scholarship and March 17 is the priority deadline. Additional<br />
scholarships will be established as interested groups and individuals desire. Those<br />
wishing to establish a scholarship fund are urged to contact the Director of Financial<br />
Aid at the college or the Dean of Institutional Advancement.<br />
Listed below are the scholarships available through the <strong>Roane</strong> <strong>State</strong> Foundation. By<br />
completing one Foundation scholarship application, students will be considered for all<br />
Foundation scholarships.<br />
