Donations Needed for Benefit Auction
Every year the UBRA holds a silent auction during our Annual
Futurity and 5D with many items including hay, art, jewelry, sporting
goods, quilts, tack and lots of great stuff. In the past we have
donated the proceeds to local charities like The Huntsman Cancer
Institute and The National Ability Center.
This year Alicia Williams will be in charge of our silent auction
and proceeds will go the the National Ability Center in Park City,
Utah and MadaresGold Horse Rescue & Rehab in Herriman, Utah.
The National Ability Center has an amazing equine program and
many other programs including ski team, aquatics, archery, cycling
and a military program.
Madaresgold Horse Rescue is dedicated to rescuing starved,
abused and neglected horses. They rehabilitate, provide feed, vet
and hoof care and training. The Horses then go up for adoption to
approved homes.

Texas Speed Events Qualifying for
2013 aQha Novice championship
Individuals wishing to qualify to represent Texas at the 2013
AQHA Novice Championship will have the opportunity to qualify
nationally and regionally as well as at the state level through the
Texas Quarter Horse Association. All candidates will be required to
compete and qualify at the designated 2013 AQHA Novice Championship
- Texas Qualifying Show. Speed events - Poles, Barrel and
Stakes designated qualifying show will be at the Alamo Breeders
Quarter Horse Show held in San Antonio on May 11-12, 2013. The
top 3 competitors in each class will be recognized as a Texas State
Qualifier and authorized to enter a 2013 AQHA Novice Championship
show of their choice in either Murfreesboro, TN or Las Vegas
NV.

Paint racing Launches Digital Publication
The American Paint Horse Association recently launched its first
two digital editions of Paint Horse Racing magazine. An award-winning
print publication, Paint Horse Racing transitioned to a digital
publication this year, beginning with the January 2013 issue.
Committed to Paint racehorses and speed-event horses, Paint
Horse Racing is the only magazine fully dedicated to this segment
of the Paint Horse industry. Its new digital format allows more
timely distribution of information, integration of audio and video,
and expanded content.
Several new editorial sections debut in the digital Paint Horse
Racing magazine, including the “Pick a Winner” racing analysis column
with Remington Park Handicapper Dale Day, “Wise Words”
column with Chaplain Sam Ed Spence of the Race Track Chaplaincy
of Texas, and the “Spotted: Trackside” photo gallery. Digital
issues also feature expanded editorial features, deeper charts and
stakes race video replays. All digital Paint Horse Racing issues are
archived at racing.apha.com/magazine.
Everyone is invited to sign up for a free subscription to the digital
Paint Horse Racing magazine. Digital issues are published six times
annually and emailed directly to subscribers; coverage is supplemented

Extraco Event center to Upgrade
A proposed land swap between McLennan County and the Waco
(Texas) Independent School District would allow the Extraco
Events Center – home of the All American ProRodeo Finals each
October – to add a new arena and potentially hold more events,
officials told the Waco Tribune. The $1.5 million project is part of
a $20 million master plan approved three years ago to upgrade the
center complex. The center would finance and build the expanded
stall barn and turn it over to the county once construction is complete,
perhaps as early as January 2014, said Wes Allison, president
and CEO of the Extraco Events Center. It would supplement the
existing arena in the Heart O’ Texas Coliseum and Extraco Show

McLean Wins road to the horse again
According to the Road to the Horse’s Facebook page, Guy
McLean, was named the winner of Road to the Horse 2013! Guy
McLean is now a 2x Road to the Horse World Champion. The Final
Scores for Road to the Horse 2013 at The Kentucky Horse Park.
