<strong>Downer</strong> rail has delivered more than 1,100 passenger<br />
cars to australian operators, including all the latest<br />
electric passenger rolling stock for brisbane and perth,<br />
the supply of the millennium to railcorp in nsw and<br />
now currently delivering the largest single rolling stock<br />
project ever undertaken in australia, the 626 waratah<br />
passenger cars for sydney.<br />

significant investment in upgrading<br />

ensuring the highest quality and<br />

<strong>Downer</strong> rail supply chain provides a complete range of procurement, purchasing,<br />
multi-mode logistics, and warehousing services with integrated planning from<br />
its head office premises in rhodes new south wales, regional operations in<br />
cardiff new south wales, newport victoria, canning vale wa and maryborough<br />
Queensland, our aftermarket parts (amp) Distribution centre in wetherill park,<br />
new south wales, and 21 regional subsidiary offices and stores to support our<br />
national network.<br />
The AMP division offers an extensive<br />
range of spare parts and material<br />
supply solutions to support passenger,<br />
locomotive and wagon fleets, and is<br />
an authorised distributor of EMD, unit<br />
exchange components (UTEX) and<br />
locomotive spares.<br />
<strong>Downer</strong> <strong>Rail</strong> is actively building<br />
new product lines through its AMP<br />
division to service freight wagons and<br />
passenger applications.<br />

<strong>Downer</strong> rail has supplied over 60 per cent of the dieselelectric<br />
locomotives operating in australia. with our key<br />
technology partner emD, we continue to supply the local<br />
market with new locomotives and support the existing fleets.<br />
Our product suite covers standard<br />
and narrow gauge locomotives, both<br />
with modern AC traction models. Our<br />
products have been extended by our<br />
relationship with Progress <strong>Rail</strong>, who<br />
offer lower horse power, DC traction<br />
and light axle load options, as a result<br />
of its acquisition of EMD. <strong>Downer</strong><br />
<strong>Rail</strong> and EMD have a clearly defined<br />
product development path to ensure<br />
we satisfy our customers’ business<br />
needs by introducing value-add<br />
products and features.<br />
The future supply of competitive<br />
current and next generation<br />
locomotives into the Australian<br />
market has been guaranteed by<br />
an agreement with EMD for the<br />
manufacture of these locomotives<br />
at state-of-the-art manufacturing<br />
facilities in India and North America.<br />
<strong>Downer</strong> <strong>Rail</strong> will maintain the client<br />
relationship for all EMD locomotive sales<br />
and support in Australia.<br />

<strong>Downer</strong> <strong>Rail</strong> and EMD are the only<br />
proven successful supplier of Pilbaraspec<br />
AC traction locomotives specifically<br />
designed to service the harsh Iron Ore<br />
mining operations in Western Australia’s<br />
north west region. The SD70ACe/LCi<br />
design has features such as dual air<br />
conditioning as well as a 1,000,000<br />
pounds buff-load underframe when<br />
compared with a standard SD70ACe<br />
locomotive – these features, among a<br />
number of others, result in the locomotive<br />
delivering exemplary performance for<br />
our customers in the Pilbara.<br />
Our customers have access to a<br />
comprehensive offering of rolling stock<br />
spares with more than 8,000 line items<br />
held in stock.<br />
