Served in Matabele Campaign in 1893, Bechuanaland 1897, Boer War 1899-1902, Kalahari Desert 1904- 1907, and in German S.W. Africa and East Africa in World War 1. Born 3/7/1867, married 9/10/1896, Evelyn Georgina Stirling (d.24/4/1937) daughter of Richard William Macdermott of Dublin and died 29/7/1937 leaving issue. Great-grandson of Sir William Eliott, 6th Baronet. Gules, on a bend engrailed Or, a baton azure, on a chief of the last a castle winged with turrets between two pillars argent masoned sable, the gate of the castle of the last charged with a key of the second and below the same the word GIBRALTAR. William Marwood-Elton of Widworthy Court, Devon. Formerly of Thaba N'chu, Umtali (Mutare). Paly of six Or and gules, on a bend sable a quatrefoil between two mullets of the first. (Coll. of Arms, 1/8/1838, BLG 1952, BP 1953) ELWES OF ROXBY Richard Henry Lincoln Elwes, born 26/6/1891, killed in Rhodesia, 21/11/1914. Son of Philip Francis Elwes and grandson of Richard James Cary Elwes who was the 8th son of Robert Cary Elwes of Roxby and Brigg, Lincs. Or, a fess azure surmounted by a bend gules. (BLG,1952) ERRINGTON OF CHADWELL HALL Major George Henry Errington, MC of Chadwell Hall, Essex and of Monkton Farm, Figtree, Bulawayo. Born 26/8/1908, married, 16/11/1933, Margaret Kathleen, younger daughter of Maj-Gen. Sir Henry Bushman, KCB, 9th Lancers, and has issue. Argent, two bars, in chief three escallops azure.
