THE YALE FRESHMAN REGISTER
To the Class of 1957:
Though we're as new here as you, we welcome
you to the Old Campus anyhow. You see your first
year at Yale is our first year of publication.
Let's hope your venture culminates in graduation,
ours in tradition.
Frankly we're pretty proud of this 5x9 booklet
you have before you. We challenged an established
campus organization to win rights to bring you what
we feel is a greater aid to your orientation and a
more valuable record of your class. It is left to
you to judge our success or failure.
The Register is intended to bring you data,
names and pictures of yo,ur classmates as quickly and
inexpensively as possible. The statistical break-
downs in the second section, the pocket size, and the
paper cover are designed for your convenience. The
Class of 1956 paid 'more than twice our price for a
beautiful, more formal book that came out in mid
Decern'oer. We hope we are an improvement, and since
we are ,an infant organization conceived for your
service we welcome your opinions and criticisms.
The inevitable errors are ours. The various
omissions are due unfortunately to late or incom-
plete records at press time.
