Lenzing Modal® now in color
Lenzing is proud to present the new
COLOR and BLACK Modal fibers. The
new developments are being presented for
the first time at the international yarn and
fabric trade shows.
Lenzing Modal® in color
Lenzing Modal ® is now available in
special fibers including black. The advantage
of the spun-dyed fiber is its ecofriendliness:
dyeing is no longer necessary
because the color pigments are embedded
directly in the fiber matrix. Resources, such
as water and energy, are spared when producing
fabrics. Tests prove that processing
Lenzing Modal ® COLOR requires up to
80% less energy and saves up to 75% of
water (in jet dyeing) in comparison to
standard fibers. This result mainly depends
on the dyeing process.
Creative fashion
The color black harbors enormous
potential for applications in lingerie and
socks. Particularly in these applications,
Lenzing Modal ® COLOR in black boasts
interesting properties such as color and
abrasion fastness. Textiles of Lenzing
Modal ® COLOR are generally extremely
durable. The color stays put. No “bleeding”,
as it is known, occurs. Even after
repeated washing, clothing of Lenzing
Modal ® COLOR remains as colorful as on
the first day. Moreover, a range of other
design ideas can be realized with the other
colors from blends to color innovations
such as cross-dyed products.
Edelweiss is in on the act
Lenzing Modal ® COLOR is produced
in an eco-friendly process using edelweiss
technology. The fiber is produced in
Corporate News
Austria from beechwood.
It is carbon neutral
and up to 95% of
processing chemicals are
recovered during production.
For this reason
Lenzing Modal ® has
been newly positioned
and the slogan “Makes
the World a Softer
Place” has been changed
to “Carbon Neutral
Softness by Edelweiss
Technology”.
“We wanted to produce
Lenzing Modal ® as
an eco-friendly cellulose
fiber and point out that
particularly this fiber produced
in Austria is produced
to the best of our
knowledge and belief
and basically differs from
other Modal fibers”,
Dieter Eichinger, Vice
President Lenzing
Business Unit Textile,
explains.
DyStar Colours Distribution
GmbH opens new European
Warehouse
With a customer event, DyStar Colours
Distribution GmbH, located in Frankfurt-
Hoechst, together with 4PL Central
Station Deutschland GmbH, officially
started up the new European warehouse
in Biebesheim.
4PL invested about 2.7 Mio Euro to
establish this state-of-the-art distribution
warehouse for DyStar, in which the inventory
of textile dyes and textile auxiliaries is
stored. In 2011 the business of DyStar
Colours Distribution GmbH showed
double-digit growth and the new warehouse
is an additional milestone to continue
the company‘s expansion path.
“This investment is an important
strategic step which will bring forth considerable
improvement in our logistics“,
says Eric Hopmann, Managing Director of
DyStar Colours Distribution GmbH. “Our
capacities from three locations can be centralized
in the new warehouse which
allows us to become more efficient and
flexible in our customer supply process.
We are happy to have found a partner in
4PL Central Station Deutschland GmbH
that will support us in the future as professional
logisticians.“ The attendants of the
event could view the modern equipment
on a tour through the warehouse. The
5000 square meter distribution center was
built within 4 months. All in all, 3000 tons
of concrete and 180 tons of steel were
used to build the warehouse with a 12
meter high rack system. In accordance
with the special regulations for textile dyes
and chemicals, a containment area for
repacking liquids and equipment to stir liquids
when repacking is available. For the
DyStar group which is headquartered in
Singapore, the German and European textile
markets play an important role despite
the crisis in Europe. As the global market
leader and dyestuff specialist for the textile
and leather industry, DyStar has several
manufacturing sites in Europe in
Ludwigshafen, Germany, in Portugal and
in Turkey. Following the motto “Global
presence - local support“, DyStar and its
2500 employees offer ISO-certified products
and extensive services.
