I. FOUNDATION<br />

With the increase of wealth and rise in rank, steeper and more dan-<br />

gerous precipices loom before one.<br />

Whenever treasure and fortune be sought, there are hardships and<br />

difficulties.<br />

To show respect to the Heavenly (Imperial) Court, while on the<br />

way meeting a cow or encountering a dog he shows kindness.<br />

Like a deer on the bank of the stream, he returns home robed in<br />

riches, honor and glory.<br />

II. BROTHERHOOD<br />

Now it is autumn. Three geese fly in the wide sky.<br />

The lonesome and sad cry of one of the three, makes Chu and Han<br />

(the people of the whole of China) to shudder.<br />

Rivers and mountains extend over myriads of miles and no one can<br />

see where they end.<br />

Calmly and quietly following the edge of an expanse of cloud, he returns<br />

home.<br />

III. ACTION<br />

Peace and happiness were so earnestly sought, even as if his in-<br />

testines should be broken into inch lengths because of the effort and<br />

struggle.<br />

Recollection of his past life in later years causes his wide collar to<br />

be wet with tears.<br />

Yet friendly and good news may be found in the direction of the<br />

northwest.<br />

However, it need not to be pressed hard for and painfully sought.<br />

(Note: It will come of itself.)<br />

IV. MARRIAGE<br />

Male and female Mandarin Ducks in the days that are warm make<br />

happy mates.<br />

Unexpected storms and violent winds will not permit their happi-<br />

ness to last long.<br />
