<strong>The</strong> 1100 m² <strong>Trützschler</strong> stand is located in hall 2 in the transitional space between the spinning and nonwovens area. <strong>The</strong>re the
three <strong>Trützschler</strong> Business Units SPINNING, CARD CLOTHING and NONWOVENS (formerly Erko and Fleissner) introduce their new
machines and processes. New developments to increase efficiency and save energy take the centre stage. <strong>The</strong> exhibition concept
allows comprehensive and convenient information on all products of the three areas. In addition to the classic topics of the three
areas, the subject of man-made fibre production installations and carbon fibre technology will be presented as well. <strong>The</strong> advantages
of the joint and tight knit global <strong>Trützschler</strong> Service Network with all its options will be introduced in Barcelona. In this case, advice
and optimisation of existing machines and installations take priority.
Optimised foreign fibre separation
by combining sensors
A variety of sensors is available for foreign
parts detection in the blow room. All
sensors have strengths and weaknesses.
<strong>The</strong>re is no sensor that can detect all foreign
parts. For this reason, three different
sensor modules with corresponding lighting
units are in use simultaneously in the
1. Colour module
<strong>The</strong> <strong>Trützschler</strong> colour module features
the latest generation of cameras. Two 3-
CCD cameras scan the tuft flow from both
sides. <strong>The</strong> cameras work together with
lighting units with neutral light. Unlike
simple colour sensors, the cameras can see
everything the human eye perceives.
2. UV module
Cotton often contains non-transparent
white parts from packaging. For the eye as
well as for colour cameras they are difficult
to distinguish from a cotton tuft. However,
additional UV lighting makes these parts
visible to the camera. This method utilizes
the effect of fluorescence. In UV light,
these parts appear light blue.
3. P module
Transparent and semitransparent parts,
like foil pieces, present another problem.
Sensors, designed for the detection of
52 PTJ September 2011
Foreign parts in polarised light.
colours are not able to identify transparent
parts. <strong>The</strong> <strong>Trützschler</strong> P module works
with polarised light. <strong>The</strong> special lighting
unit and an additional camera with polarising
filter allow a reliable detection of even
small foil pieces. Unlike colour detection
with incident light, the P module uses
transmitted light.
Separation of the foreign parts is as
important as the detection. Here a special
nozzle beam with 48 x 3 nozzles is applied.
Each of the 48 separation points works
with three small nozzles. <strong>The</strong>y produce a
clearly defined air jet. Speed sensors measure
the speed of the tuft flow and the foreign
parts, thus allowing an extremely
short air blast at exactly the right moment.
This saves expensive compressed air and
prevents unnecessary fibre loss.
New <strong>Trützschler</strong> Card TC 11 will
take centre stage
<strong>Trützschler</strong> Spinning introduces a
newly developed card - the TC 11. <strong>The</strong>
Card development is an ongoing process
with <strong>Trützschler</strong> and new findings and
ideas are immediately integrated in the
current production. However, traditionally
a larger step is taken on the occasion of
the ITMA in Europe by introducing a new
card type, with clearly improved production
and quality parameters. In Barcelona,
this will be the <strong>Trützschler</strong> Card TC 11.
<strong>The</strong> new <strong>Trützschler</strong> Card TC 11
stands for low capital expenditures and
low production costs. This was made possible
by a larger carding area and unprecedented
accuracy. <strong>The</strong> result is a 30 – 40%
increase in productivity.
New Truetzschler Card TC 11 with 40% higher
productivity.
Naturally, the established roll diameters
of the predecessor machines have
been adopted. <strong>The</strong> same applies to the
cross-section of the carding elements and
flats.
<strong>The</strong> capital expenditures for the cards,
the building and the filter system are lowered.
Increased card production means
fewer cards. This results in a reduction of
capital expenditures. <strong>The</strong>refore, the performance
per square meter building area
increases. This means lower investments
for new buildings. Or it allows a carding
capacity increase in the same space by
replacing the cards.
Operating costs are reduced due to
lower capital costs, lower power consumption
and smaller filter systems. <strong>The</strong> specific
power consumption is at the lowest level.
With the TC 11, savings of approx. 20%
electrical energy for each kilogram carded
sliver are realised. This adds up to 2,000.to
4,000 Euro per card and per year. <strong>The</strong>
filter system is also more compact and uses
smaller fans. Thus, it uses less electrical
energy.
<strong>The</strong> machine has a completely new
design and just one look at the structural
design reveals this new concept.
<strong>The</strong> card frame supports only the drum
directly. <strong>The</strong> experience with the
<strong>Trützschler</strong> Setting Optimisation System T-
Con has led to a new way of attaching the
preopening roller and the doffer. Thus,
thermally induced changes to settings are
reduced. <strong>The</strong> sensor and software based T-
Con system is of course also an integral
part of the Card TC 11.

During development it quickly became
obvious that the required accuracy cannot
be achieved with conventional flats.
<strong>The</strong>refore, the <strong>Trützschler</strong> MAGNOTOP
system is exclusively used for the TC 11.
In addition to increased production,
these measures also result in a quality
improvement. Never before was card sliver
cleaner, free of neps and uniform.
<strong>The</strong> man-made fibre card TC 11-S was
simultaneously developed with the TC 11.
This machine is equipped with special
clothings and features one needled lickerin
with increased diameter. All fibre-carrying
elements are made of stainless steel.
Introduction of new <strong>Trützschler</strong>
Draw Frame TD 8
On the occasion of ITMA Barcelona,
<strong>Trützschler</strong> Spinning will introduce a new
draw frame type. Even at first glance the
new design of the <strong>Trützschler</strong> Draw Frame
TD 8 is obvious. <strong>The</strong> integration of a new
drafting system and a new filter resulted in
a new casing.
<strong>The</strong> drafting system is characterized by
increased accuracy. This benefits sliver
evenness. Top and bottom rolls are in a
precise fixed position to one another. As is
customary with <strong>Trützschler</strong>, adjustment is
carried out parallel. Cleaning bars and
pressure bar are made of hardened stainless
steel and do not have just the usual
thin coating.
Sensor reliability and accuracy is decisive
for the control. Meanwhile, the newly
New feed sensor TD-DL.
developed input sensor Disc Leveller TD-
DL has passed all field tests with flying
colours and is now part of the standard
equipment of the TD 8. Sensor and groove
plates feature double bearings, with one
bearing below and one above the plates.
<strong>The</strong> axle is firmly anchored and does not
need to rotate. Both these measures result
in improved measuring accuracy and
many years of long-term reliability.
<strong>The</strong> quality monitoring system SLIVER
FOCUS is also equipped with a new
sensor. It is characterized by extraordinary
robustness and reliability.
For even more accurate and dynamic
levelling behaviour, the sliver feed creel is
mechanically decoupled. <strong>The</strong> new compact
sliver feed SERVO CREEL is equipped
with its own drive. <strong>The</strong> levelling motor
works more dynamic since it no longer
needs to accelerate and decelerate the
creel. Another advantage is the possibility
of continuous and sensitive adjustment of
the tension draft between creel and draw
frame. All it takes is a touch on the largescale
colour touchscreen.
<strong>Trützschler</strong> Nonwovens
<strong>Trützschler</strong> Nonwovens will be showing
its latest innovations in Man Made
Fibre and Nonwoven Machinery at the
ITMA, which is the most important exhibition
for <strong>Trützschler</strong> Nonwovens.
In addition to many new innovations,
which are particular to increase productivity
while reducing energy consumption,
two revolutionary new machine developments
are introduced:
Streamliner
During the ITMA 2011 exhibition in
Barcelona <strong>Trützschler</strong> Nonwovens GmbH
will present for the first time the
“Streamliner”, its latest development of a
new drum dryer generation.
<strong>The</strong> new dryer generation achieves
specific evaporation capacities going far
beyond the commonly achieved values,
Stalam <strong>presents</strong> a brand new RF dryer model
Stalam will introduce for the first time to the world markets
a brand new RF dryer model at its stand located at H4, D101.
According to Stalam, “This new dryer offers once again a world
record as to output power rated by a single RF generator in the
textile industry: 180 kW !!!
<strong>The</strong> adequate electrode size will allow the user to maintain
the lowest possible power density on the product being dried,
thus ensuring a gentle drying process and the highest product
quality standards.
<strong>The</strong> “RF 180 kW” dryer is mostly dedicated to large capacity
yarn package dye-houses that will have the possibility, for
resulting in significant increase in productivity.
<strong>The</strong> energy efficient machine design
features an optimized airflow with low
pressure loss, an optimal fresh air supply
using the temperature-dependent density
change, as well as a heating system with
optimized flow technology. In addition,
energy efficiency is increased by external
air treatment and possibilities of heat
recovery. With this innovative web drying
system <strong>Trützschler</strong> Nonwovens has set the
benchmark for this market segment.
Crosslapper
<strong>The</strong> increased requirements for
throughput and availability have led to
ever increasing line speeds in the past.
To be able to use the carding speeds
available today, it is necessary to increase
also the performance of downstream
equipment. In particular the crosslapping
lines are operated at the limit of their
capacities, limits which are, if at all, difficult
to be pushed with conventional technology.
However, these limitations have
been overcome with the new crosslapper
EKLB439 both in terms of productivity as
well as in terms of quality.
<strong>The</strong> new crosslapper
EKLB439
New solutions secured by patents provide
the basis for this breakthrough. Apart
from the new fleece guidance this includes
the mastery of dynamic factors influencing
the process materials and the machine.
In its present position, <strong>Trützschler</strong>
Nonwovens is able to meet any future
challenges of the nonwoven market. <strong>The</strong>ir
continued business success is based on a
clear focus on the market, the end products
and the customers.
example, to dry over 9 tons/day of 100% cotton yarn packages
in a single-generator machine, which is just slightly longer than
10 m - the same length of the 150 kW dryer.
<strong>The</strong> new Stalam 180 kW dryer enjoys most favourable productivity
/ space and productivity / cost ratios - as to both capital
investment and operating costs - improving further the
outstanding economical convenience of the 150 kW model
dryer. <strong>The</strong> “RF 180 kW” model dryer demonstrates once again
that Stalam is among the innovative and far-sighted manufacturers
of RF drying equipment for the textile industry worldwide.
