Arvada Police Liaison

Officer Don Sikkema, Senior Liaison Officer, is at the

center most Tuesdays from 10 to 11 am. Stop by to

chat or share questions and concerns about abandoned

cars, suspicious phone calls or solicitors, graffiti,

scams, car break-ins, purse snatching, etc. Officer Sikkema

can be reached at 720-898-6724.

AARP-Driver Safety Program • Ages 50+

Brush up on safe, defensive driving skills; learn how

to avoid accidents and handle adverse traffic conditions

and hazards. This DMV approved course was

designed especially for people age 50 and over. Insurance

companies offer discounts to seniors completing

it. Class registration is free. There is a $12 material fee

for AARP members ($14 for non-AARP members) due

on the day of class. AARP members must show membership

card to receive discounted price. Make checks

payable to AARP (checks only-no cash). Classes often

fill, so sign up early.

LANGUAGE AND WRITING

Sign Language • Ages 12+

Discover American Sign Language. Beginning and

returning students welcome. Beginning students will

learn the alphabet and numbers and progress to common

vocabulary words and phrases. Returning students

will review what they have already learned and expand

their vocabulary words and phrases. $3 workbook fee

due to the instructor at the first class.

Beginning Spanish

Learn greetings, the alphabet, pronunciation, numbers,

weather, time and more! Gain lots of new vocabulary,

begin speaking in the present tense and have a strong

base by the end. We converse during each class session.

notebook to class. $3 workbook fee payable to instructor.
