Volunteers

Are you seeking useful, rewarding ways to spend

your time? The Center’s success is largely due to the

volunteers of all ages who share their time, talents

and imagination! Besides the volunteer groups listed

below, there are lots of other ways you can help. Sign

up for the Volunteer Opportunities (see page 3) and

learn how you can become a valuable team member of

the Community Recreation Center.

Weight Room Assistant Volunteer

Help is needed to assist in the cardiovascular/weight

room, checking in participants, keeping the equipment

clean and in working order, and performing other duties

as assigned. If interested, call Lynn, 303-425-9583.

Front Desk Customer Service

Front desk volunteers offer excellent customer service

to visitors who walk in or call for information. Volunteers

are needed for four-hour-per-week* shifts on a

regular basis. Call or stop by for details.

Craft Carousel

Holiday items, baby blankets, dolls, jewelry and greeting

cards are just a few of the hand-made crafts in this

shop! Volunteer staff helps the many consignors sell

items in the Craft Carousel Gift Shop. Part of the proceeds

benefit the Center, see page 10 for store hours.

Volunteer clerks are needed to cover three-hour-per

week* shifts. Call 303-467-7198 for details.

*For volunteering at the Front Desk and/or Gift

Shop, efforts are made to have 2 volunteers per shift

so volunteers can rotate weeks and/or cover absences.

Craft Carousel Consignors Needed

Turn your talent into a little extra spending money.

The Gift Shop always needs unique, quality handmade

items for our gift shop. For details, please call

303-467-7198.

Crafty Seniors

Join other crafters to turn donated craft supplies into

handmade items for sale at the gift shop and Craft

Fair, with proceeds benefiting the Center, and they also

make items to be donated to different charities. They

meet year-round. See page 12 for details.

Apple Dumpling Gang

This fun, energetic group would love to have you join

them in preparing food for special events held at the

Center! They also help decorate and take tickets. They

meet at 10 am on the first Tuesday of each month to plan

activities. If you can’t attend, call 303-425-9583, to sign

up for activities of your choice. Hours vary by event.

Senior Council

This appointed group of active Center volunteers and

participants evaluates its programs and operations and

provides valuable input. They meet the first Thursday

of each month at 9:30 am. Meetings are open to

the public, but we suggest you call 303-425-9583 to

confirm the meeting place and time. Council terms run

from Feb.-Feb., and nominations are accepted through

the first week of Jan. You are welcome to nominate

yourself. Candidates must be Apex Park and Recreation

District residents. We encourage you to visit a

meeting if you are considering a Council appointment.

Librarians

Volunteers sort, repair, label, and shelve books. Our

library is one of the best in the area, maintained by

caring volunteers. Readers take out books on the honor

system. The library appreciates donations of current

books and is in special need of large-print books. No

textbooks, encyclopedias, or magazine subscriptions.

Other volunteer ideas?

In addition to the volunteer groups listed, there are

other ways to volunteer at the Center. How about sharing

an artistic talent, hobby or passion? Please call our

Volunteer Coordinator to talk about how you can help.
