Royal Auping: 

a Dutch 

success story 

In 1888 Johannes Auping, a Deventer blacksmith, was 

commissioned to design a well-ventilated bed for the local 

hospital. Working in his smithy, Auping designed and built the 

first mesh-based bed. 

This was the beginning of a success story and in 1988, exactly 100 years after that very first 

bed, Auping’s company was awarded the royal title “Koninklijk”. Today, Auping is the largest

Milano 

1998: the first Auping Box Spring 

The very first Auping box spring bed dates 

from 1998, the year that Auping acquired 

the well-known brand ‘Zevenslaper’ 

and launched its own box springs. The 

combination of Zevenslaper’s expertise 

and Auping’s innovation is a guarantee for 

unique quality. 

The Auping Superbox was introduced in 

2006, a unique innovation in the world 

of box springs. The Auping Superbox is 

fitted with the well-ventilated mesh base. 

Following this innovation Auping has 

moved on to fit all of its box springs with 

a mesh base. An important advantage of 

the box spring with mesh base is its good 

ventilating properties. The 80% open 

structure of the mesh base ensures that 

Auping beds have optimum ventilation.

The main difference between the Auping AVS box spring (AVS stands for Active Ventilation and Support) 

and other box springs is the use of a built-in mesh base. Auping is the only bed manufacturer to

A good nights’ sleep requires a good 

mattress. But what makes a mattress a 

good mattress? When it matches the person 

who sleeps on it. It is a matter of individual 

factors such as body length, weight and 

any physical discomforts, but personal

others prefer a softer mattress. 

As the oldest bed manufacturer in the 

Netherlands, Auping has a wealth of 

knowledge and experience. Also when it

A new mattress range 

Auping regularly carries out innovations by keeping the 

unique Auping quality up-to-date. For that reason we 

now introduce a complete new mattress range. Unlike 

the previous range, the new collection of mattresses can 

be used in combination with both mesh bases and box 

springs. This makes choosing your perfect mattress much

Good to know 

Not only do the new mattresses look more luxurious 

on the outside, several major innovations and 

improvements have been carried out on the inside 

too. As you are accustomed to from Auping, it has 

high demands when it comes to proper ventilation. 

For instance, the new mattresses have a new 

perforated bottom and ventilating borders. But the 

new mattress line also offers several other extras.

1. Maximum comfort – Asymmetric structure build-up 

In the new Auping mattresses, the various comfort zones have been built-up 

asymmetrically. After all, your head requires a different type of support than your hip. 

This is why different springs are used for different areas. This way, the mattress offers

3. Fresh and comfortable sleep 

Climate regulation 

The ideal ‘sleeping climate’ differs from person to person. No one, 

however, likes sleeping too hot or too cold. The new Auping Vivo 

mattress, with a special comfort layer, can absorb or emit heat. 

Due to the climate regulating and ventilating properties, the 

mattress adapts to you. And this feels good. 

This applies to the new Auping Vivo mattress. 

Tencel ® in ticking 

In some of the new mattresses, Tencel has been added to the ticking. 

Tencel is extremely soft and feels nice and cool. The ventilating 

properties of the fibre ensure that moisture is absorbed and 

transported quickly, so there are minimum chances for bacteria and 

dust mites. Result: a fresh and comfortable mattress and a pleasant 

sleeping climate. 

This applies to the new Auping mattresses Cresto, Maestro and Vivo. 

3D knitted material 

In the new Auping mattresses, the core is covered with a 3D knitted 

material with flexible shoulder part that is especially developed for 

Auping. Apart from the perfect ventilating and moisture regulating 

properties of this material, the shoulders are fully supported due to 

the flexible part. 

This applies to the new Auping Maestro and 

Vivo mattresses.

Single and double mattresses 

All new Auping mattresses are available in 

a single or a double version. In addition, 

the Cresto, Maestro, Vivo, Cresto Visco and 

Maestro Visco mattresses are also available 

as double mattresses with two separate cores.

‘Personal Bedding core’, equipped with 

more than 500 barrel and cylindrical shaped
