Regulations – <strong>BTCC</strong> 2012<br />
3.7.9.b. For All Races: For one or two car teams a maximum of eight personnel per team will only be<br />
permitted in the Pit Lane during each Race in order to carry out a Pit Stop for their car(s).<br />
For three or four car teams eight additional team personnel will be permitted in the Pit Lane to<br />
facilitate any Pit Stop for a third or fourth car in a team.<br />
As soon as a competitor has completed his/her Pit Stop, all equipment and personnel must be<br />
removed from their Pit area and equipment stored in their allocated garage area or in the case of<br />
those not allocated a Pit Garage equipment must be stored in the space designated to them<br />
within the Pit Lane. The Pit Lane is defined as the hard standing area in front of the entrance<br />
door to the Pit Garages.<br />
3.7.9.c. For All Races: The permitted personnel (other than Officials) in the Pit Lane must include:<br />
One Car Controller whose only duty must be to control the stopping and releasing of their car and<br />
who is not permitted to touch the car. He/she must be positioned at the front corner of the car<br />
closest to the fast lane. The Car Controller is responsible for releasing the car after its Pit Stop<br />
and should ensure that there is adequate distance for the car to be released safely in front of any<br />
approaching car. Any car in the fast lane has priority. Failure to release the car safely may result<br />
in the imposition of a Drive Through Penalty and/or any other penalty provided for in these<br />
Regulations.<br />
One Air Jack Operator to operate the air jack.<br />
For Pit Stops requiring wheels/tyres to be changed:<br />
For cars complying with NGTC Regulations a maximum of one Pit crew per side of each car shall<br />
be permitted to undertake any wheel/tyre changes.<br />
For cars complying with FIA S2000 regulations, a maximum of two Pit crew per side of each car<br />
shall be permitted to undertake any wheel/tyre changes.<br />
3.7.9.d. For All Races: A maximum of three personnel per car wearing TOCA issued Pit Wall<br />
Identification passes will be permitted in the Pit Wall Area during each Race, in addition to TOCA<br />
Gold Card Pass holders. During each Race only team members with this accreditation may<br />
traverse the Pit Lane.<br />
3.7.9.e. For All Races, team personnel who wish to celebrate on the Pit Wall as their car takes the<br />
chequered flag may do so only on the final lap of the Race.<br />
3.7.10. The following Pit Lane parking procedure is mandatory:<br />
Prior to the start of the following sessions, all cars must be in position (as stated below) in the Pit<br />
Lane unless permission has been granted by a <strong>BTCC</strong> Official not to do so:<br />
Free Practice Sessions, Official Qualifying Sessions and Pit Lane Opening for all Races – Angle<br />
parking in formation nose out towards the Pit Lane.<br />
During the following sessions, all cars must be parked as stated below:<br />
Free Practice Sessions and Official Qualifying Sessions – Angle parking nose in towards the Pit<br />
Garage (at Knockhill, nose-in within the Pit Bay)<br />
All Races (except at Knockhill) – Parallel parking<br />
Races at Knockhill – Angle parking nose-in within the Pit Bay.<br />
Drivers of competing cars must use their best endeavours not to enter, exit, drive through or<br />
traverse a Pit Bay or area occupied by (or allocated to) another team at any time during all<br />
Meetings and <strong>BTCC</strong> Test Days.<br />
3.7.11. For All Races: If, in the opinion of the <strong>BTCC</strong> Officials, any team (whether inadvertently or not)<br />
positions equipment (including the race car) or personnel so as to create a hazard or disruption<br />
or interference with the activities of another competitor or Official, one or more of the drivers of<br />
such team may be subject to a Drive Through Penalty or a Time Penalty or exclusion from the<br />
Race.<br />
3.7.12. For All Races: All air bottles, air lines, air hoses and wheel changing equipment must be confined<br />
to the teams designated Pit Stop area at all times which is the only area in which Pit Stops may<br />
be undertaken. Individual air bottles must be used and they must only be positioned in the Pit<br />
Lane in accordance with 3.7.11. and must not impede or obstruct any other competitors’ Pit Stop.<br />
For the avoidance of doubt, airline gantries are prohibited.<br />
3.7.13. For All Races: All cars must be completely free of all hoses and tools before leaving their<br />
designated Pit Area and at no time shall the power driven wheels be driven over any hose or<br />
other equipment in the Pit Area. Failure to comply may result in a Drive Through Penalty or Time<br />
Penalty and/or other penalty being imposed.<br />
