ALL IT TAKES
IS COURAGE
Courage is a tricky thing — a risky thing, even — but it has its rewards,
as evidenced by the fact that I am now living an American dream! I had
done exactly what my parents taught me to do: earn my degree, land my
dream job teaching third grade, then earn my graduate degree. I found
it fulfi lling teaching children to become lifelong learners. Fast-forward
12 years into my true reality: I was up at 5 a.m. working 10–12 hours
a day after dropping my six-week old daughter, Gracie, off at daycare,
and living paycheck-to-paycheck, when I overheard another teacher say,
“Only 13 more years, and I will be able to retire.” A feeling settled like
a rock in my stomach as I realized my everyday life was not all that I
had hoped for. Sure, I was happily married and blessed with a healthy
baby and a great career, but wasn’t there more to life than working so
hard and just scraping by fi nancially?
Not long after my realization that something needed to change, I was
given the ABC Arbonne Baby Care ® products and I loved them. I couldn’t
stop telling everyone that they had to try this “Arbonne stuff”! That is
when my friend, ENVP Tarrah Brandsma, gave me a NutriMinC ® RE 9®
anti-aging skin care set to sample. I hesitantly gave the products a try.
To my surprise, my skin had never looked better; it was smoother and
clearer, and it felt amazing. I loved the results, as well as Arbonne’s
philosophy of offering only products that are pure, safe and benefi cial.
As a result of my enthusiasm for the Arbonne products, Tarrah invited
me to an Arbonne event. Honestly, I thought Tarrah had lost her mind. I
agreed to accompany her, but I didn’t think that “selling” would be for
me and I snobbishly thought this kind of “thing” was only for people who
had nothing better to do. What an eye-opening experience that evening
was! Arbonne was nothing like I’d imagined: no blue eye shadow, pink
lips, red cheeks or pushy saleswomen. The room was energized with men
and women from every profession and background. ENVP Tiffany Bufton
was speaking and I was so intrigued by what she said that my head
was spinning! My husband and I decided that this Arbonne opportunity
could be our Plan B — perhaps even, someday, our Plan A. We started
our business in April of 2006 and never looked back.
My Arbonne journey isn’t one of glitz and glamour. It wasn’t easy to overcome
the setbacks, but I was fueled by hope, determination, commitment,
continued...
success strategy:
Follow the roadmap to success
that your upline provides,
go to work and don’t quit!
personal growth and faith. This business is more than skin care, health
and wellness. It’s the catalyst to becoming a stronger, more confi dent
and fully embodied spirit. Today, my life is fi lled with “get to’s” instead
of “have to’s,” and there’s nothing better than that. I’m able to be home
more with my daughters, Gracie and Ava. I have more personal time
and freedom than ever before!
Success with Arbonne depends on you. If you can become a District
Manager, you can become an NVP. You simply have to persevere with
strength and tenacity and keep doing the things that got you to District,
while helping others do the same. Follow the roadmap to success that
your upline provides, go to work and don’t quit! Be coachable and willing
to rise above your excuses. Surround yourself with positive, successful
people. Read books to build your belief in network marketing and yourself.
When business is challenging, choose to have a “no matter what”
attitude and a big vision, because having both will keep you forging
ahead. If you manage your emotions and expectations with grace and
dignity, success will be yours!
I’m grateful to my husband, Rob, for his unwavering support, love and
belief. This journey wouldn’t have meaning without you and our beautiful
daughters. Most importantly, the success of our business wouldn’t be
nearly as sweet.
Special thanks to my parents, Bud and Darlene Helzer, who taught me
the value of hard work and determination. You’re an invaluable part of
my success! I also thank my in-laws and friends for supporting me by
watching my girls when I had Arbonne events. I couldn’t have gotten
here without you!
To my sister-in-law, EAM Kelli Helzer: I’m glad you decided to take this
journey with me! Thanks for having poise and grace in every situation
and helping me see clearly through the good and the bad. You are one
of my dearest friends and I love you. See you at the top!
To AM Katie Hall: You are a go-getter and I am thankful that you decided
to jump into Arbonne.
To EDM Stefani Rackely: You are wonderful and have everything it takes
Thanks to all of my District Managers and Consultants building this business.
You are amazing people who could be doing anything you choose.
To my Clients: Thank you! I am thrilled that you are able to purchase
products that are pure, safe and benefi cial at a discount. I look forward
to serving you for years to come.
To ENVP Tarrah Brandsma: What a leader you are! You have truly set
the pace and I am indebted to you for your support and belief, and
for modeling what can be achieved when you reach high enough. You
lead with integrity and generosity. Thank you!
To ENVP Tiffany Bufton and ENVP Lori Lucero: Thank you both for casting
a vision bigger than I could ever have imagined on my own.
Thank you, President Rita Davenport, for leading with such integrity and
humor. You always say, “What you think about, you bring about!” That
has truly impacted my life!
Thank you to everyone at the Arbonne Home Offi ce; I appreciate all of
your support and leadership.
To those of you reading my story: I hope you’ll consider this opportunity
to create something incredible and fi nd your own path to courage. I
fully encourage you to jump in … The water is warm!
