The national<br />

<strong>in</strong><strong>for</strong>mation sources<br />

N<strong>in</strong>eteen people who play a key role <strong>in</strong><br />

major teacher <strong>education</strong> <strong>in</strong>stitutions were<br />

identified as primary <strong>in</strong><strong>for</strong>mation sources<br />

<strong>in</strong> each country (see Appendix).<br />

These contacts were asked to appo<strong>in</strong>t a<br />

“National Investigator” responsible <strong>for</strong><br />

provid<strong>in</strong>g accurate and complete<br />

<strong>in</strong><strong>for</strong>mation to be used <strong>in</strong> the context of a<br />

comparative analysis at European level.<br />

The National<br />

Investigators<br />

N<strong>in</strong>eteen National Investigators<br />

were appo<strong>in</strong>ted to describe the explicit<br />

or implicit competence <strong>profile</strong><br />

perta<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g to <strong>ICT</strong> <strong>in</strong> teachers’ practice<br />

that is assumed as a reference<br />

<strong>for</strong> <strong>in</strong>-service and pre-service<br />

programs/<strong>in</strong>itiatives/courses <strong>in</strong> their<br />

country (see Appendix).<br />

The contributions produced by the<br />

National Investigators served as a<br />

basis <strong>for</strong> an analysis of teachers’<br />

competencies <strong>in</strong> <strong>ICT</strong> assumed <strong>in</strong> the<br />

different European countries.<br />

Specifically, the <strong>in</strong>vestigators’ tasks<br />

were to:<br />

• produce a short national report <strong>in</strong><br />

l<strong>in</strong>e with guidel<strong>in</strong>es provided by the<br />

partnership;<br />

• participate <strong>in</strong> a week-long sem<strong>in</strong>ar <strong>in</strong><br />

Venice (4 th -9 th October 2004), where<br />

a draft of the Common European<br />

Framework would be produced;<br />

• participate <strong>in</strong> the Framework<br />

production.
