Field emission electron microscopy 203 CONCLUSIONS REFERENCES In this paper we have attempted to demonstrate the usefulness of FESEM for the study of clay fabrics in sedimentary rocks. The better resolution of the FESEM gives it significant advantages over CSEM and BSEM for the detailed observation of clay fabrics. Apart from adding to our knowledge of the clay petrography, these more detailed observations can also influence how we interpret other types of clay data, e.g. the isotopic and K/At of illites.
