Immediately after, and in consequence <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> passing <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Act <strong>of</strong>
Uniformity in 1662, <strong>the</strong> Dudley Double Lecture was instituted by certain
ejected ministers <strong>of</strong> this neighbourhood, in comnlemoration <strong>of</strong> that event,
and with <strong>the</strong> view <strong>of</strong> maintaining and extending <strong>the</strong> principles <strong>of</strong> dissent.
No minister, be it remembered in passing, was ejected for conscience sake
from Dudley. James Scott in his MS. Hisfory <strong>of</strong> CmdZey PresZyterinlz Church,
in alluding to some <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> neighbouring societies, says, <strong>of</strong> Dudley :--The
