In <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> grave yard adjoining <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> meeting-house are st<strong>on</strong>es to <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> memory<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> various members <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Scott family, and o<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>rs closely c<strong>on</strong>nected with<br />

this society.<br />

The interior <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> meeting-house also has many memorial tablets <strong>on</strong><br />

its walls, and affixed to <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> fr<strong>on</strong>t <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> gallery are tables recording bene-<br />

facti<strong>on</strong>s to <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> society.<br />

The carved oak screen was placed in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> chancel, in 1897, by Mr. A. W.<br />

Worthingt<strong>on</strong>, as a memorial <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> his wife ; it was designed by his nephew,<br />

Mr. Percy S. Worthingt<strong>on</strong>, <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Manchester, and bears appropriate inscripti<strong>on</strong>s.<br />

The f<strong>on</strong>t is in memory <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Anna Laetitia Worthingt<strong>on</strong>, b. <strong>on</strong> 23 February<br />

and died <strong>on</strong> 21 March, 1863. .<br />

This society is <strong>on</strong>e <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> few which did not deposit its original register<br />

in L<strong>on</strong>d<strong>on</strong> ; <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> volume is in shape and size-l<strong>on</strong>g, thick and narrow-much<br />

like that at Gort<strong>on</strong> Chapel-now Brookfield Church-&Ianchester, which<br />

also did not deposit it in Government keeping.<br />

Had it not been for <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> marvellous and caretaking manner in which<br />

William Scott and <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Rev. James Scott compiled <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>ir various books <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

records, and for <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> safety and security given to <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>m by <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> various<br />

ministers here, and at Cradley, mnch that is now known <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> life and<br />

growth <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> many <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> worshipping societies in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Midland</str<strong>on</strong>g>s, during <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />
