In <strong>the</strong> grave yard adjoining <strong>the</strong> meeting-house are stones to <strong>the</strong> memory
<strong>of</strong> various members <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Scott family, and o<strong>the</strong>rs closely connected with
this society.
The interior <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> meeting-house also has many memorial tablets on
its walls, and affixed to <strong>the</strong> front <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> gallery are tables recording bene-
factions to <strong>the</strong> society.
The carved oak screen was placed in <strong>the</strong> chancel, in 1897, by Mr. A. W.
Worthington, as a memorial <strong>of</strong> his wife ; it was designed by his nephew,
Mr. Percy S. Worthington, <strong>of</strong> Manchester, and bears appropriate inscriptions.
The font is in memory <strong>of</strong> Anna Laetitia Worthington, b. on 23 February
and died on 21 March, 1863. .
This society is one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> few which did not deposit its original register
in London ; <strong>the</strong> volume is in shape and size-long, thick and narrow-much
like that at Gorton Chapel-now Brookfield Church-&Ianchester, which
also did not deposit it in Government keeping.
Had it not been for <strong>the</strong> marvellous and caretaking manner in which
William Scott and <strong>the</strong> Rev. James Scott compiled <strong>the</strong>ir various books <strong>of</strong>
records, and for <strong>the</strong> safety and security given to <strong>the</strong>m by <strong>the</strong> various
ministers here, and at Cradley, mnch that is now known <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> life and
growth <strong>of</strong> many <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> worshipping societies in <strong>the</strong> <strong>Midland</strong>s, during <strong>the</strong>
18th century, would, by this time, be lost.
