financial aid accorded to it at various times since <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> building <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> church<br />

in 1877.<br />

From <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> beginning <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> sittings have been free and unappropriated,<br />

this being <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> first church to set <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> example in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> town. For many<br />

years past <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> building has been open daily till sunset.<br />

In 1895, <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> c<strong>on</strong>gregati<strong>on</strong> had <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> pleasure <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> seeing <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> principle for<br />

which it stands adopted in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> new town cemetery, which was that year<br />

simply dedicated for Christian burial ; <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> rector <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> parish and his<br />

and where no line <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> demarcati<strong>on</strong> mars <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> spot in which c<strong>on</strong>forming and<br />

n<strong>on</strong>c<strong>on</strong>forming parishi<strong>on</strong>ers rest side by side.<br />

In January, 1896, <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> c<strong>on</strong>gregati<strong>on</strong>, at <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> hands <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> its minister, was<br />

~rivileged to see erected <strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> walls <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> its church, all <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> 23 fine memorial<br />

The M<strong>on</strong>th4 Meeting has been held here three times; <strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> last occasi<strong>on</strong>,<br />

'<br />

rector <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> parish, received <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> ministers at tea in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> rectory, and an<br />

evening service in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> church, with address by <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Rev. Joseph Wood,<br />

were included it1 <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> day's progra-mme.<br />

The baptismal and marriage registers were compiled by <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> author at<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> beginning <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> his ministry here, and sent round for <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> signatures <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> different <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g>ficiating ministers before death had removed any <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>m ;<br />

so that <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> church now owns complete registers. Of <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> entries to April,<br />
