On a Pastoral Note
Last week I had a wonderful experience between Sunday services in
Fellowship Hall—I tried both the frittata and coffee cake that were
fresh made from our church kitchen by our chef. Wow—were they
good—and did they ever help boost me through the long morning.
Hospitality is something of a forte for our church, and I invite you to
try out both the goodies and the fellowship on Sunday mornings!
~Pastor Paul Watermulder
Next Sunday at FPCB – January 27 at 8:15, 9:30, & 11:00 a.m.
Please join us next Sunday as we worship at 8:15 a.m. in the Chapel
and 9:30 and 11:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary. Pastor Beth Frykberg will
be preaching on “Faith Journey” from Romans 12: 1-3. Join us for
coffee and breakfast treats between services in Fellowship Hall.
Upcoming Prayer Walk – February 3 at 12:30 p.m.
Pastor Watermulder will host the second of five “Prayer Walks With
the Pastor” for anyone interested, on Sunday afternoon, February 3,
at 12:30. Prayer Walks With The Pastor are a time to visit different
spaces in the church, learn how they are used in ministry, and to pray
for God to use them to His glory. The last walk included the
Sanctuary, Fellowship Hall, Chapel, Prayer Garden and Pastor’s
study. The upcoming walk will include our children and youth
ministry areas, Upper Room and church Parlor. Future walks (one
per month) will visit our nearby neighborhood, then the hospital, then
the Broadway shopping district.
CRUNCH TIME!
The Church session is in the final stages of compiling the 2013
budget for its many ministries, programs and activities. We thank you
for your generous support and gifts in the past for your church home.
Currently we have received pledges for 2013 of $1.225 million which
is unfortunately $275,000 short of our barebones program and
ministry needs of $1.5 million. In order to move forward on our
plans for 2013, Session will begin adjusting spending budgets by the
end of January based on the level of financial support that we have
received. If you have not already pledged, please submit your 2013
pledge or contact our church office (342-0875) as soon as possible!

the movie together at the first show time of the day on January
Please Complete & Return Home Communion Ministry Survey
In September 2012, our church began a new ministry of scheduled
monthly visitation and Home Communion. It is time to evaluate this
four-month pilot program. The results will be presented to the
January Session for approval as an ongoing ministry of our church. If
you have not yet done so, please pick up, fill out, and return your
Faith Seeking Understanding Class – Chapel Sunday’s 9:30 a.m.
Since its early days, the Church has struggled with reconciling the
New Testament's call to love our enemies and to turn the other cheek
with the need of nations to fight wars for securing justice and peace.
Led by our own Mathew Koshy we will take a close look at the Just
War Theory, the classical Christian response to this question. Join us
for: Christian Views of War: Just War Theory and Christian
Discipleship. (Jan. 27 and Feb. 3) Ann Darling (574-0639) or Jill
Wakeman Goodman (349-0541) can be contacted for additional info.
