ADDENDUM B: ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY (AUP) At Fay, technology has become an integral part of the academic and residential programs. Fay’s network provides access to education resources and areas of information, as well as additional lines of communication between faculty, students, families, and other networks and computers located around the world. Access to and use of Fay’s computers, devices and network is a privilege and not a right. All technology used at Fay and/or accessed through the network must be used in a responsible, appropriate, and legal manner. Such use must also be consistent with Fay’s core values and major school rules. In addition, students are bound at all times by rules outlined in this policy. Fay reserves the right to modify these rules and guidelines as necessary. Access to the Internet through Fay’s network is free for approved users. All user accounts, including e-mail, are accessible to authorized Fay personnel. Should a student choose to register his or her personal computer for use on Fay’s network, the user then agrees to the guidelines set forth in this Policy as to the use and contents of that computer. By registering a computer for use on the Fay network, users agree to maintain up-to-date antivirus and operating system software. The contents of registered computers may also be periodically reviewed to evaluate the user’s compliance with the school policies. Users may NOT bring any illegally obtained electronic materials onto the Fay campus, no matter how stored. This includes (but is not limited to) music and from CDs or DVDs that the user does not own. A user’s Internet activity, e- - tored or accessed at any time, without notice, by authorized Fay personnel. Hence, users should have no expectation of privacy. Access to the Internet provides connections to information on the World Wide Web, not all of which is accurate or appropriate. Fay cannot control the content of information available through the Internet. Fay makes no warranties, either expressed or implied, about the accuracy or quality of information obtained through its networks or Internet services. Fay will, on occasion, block access to sites containing age inappropriate content or links to other such sites. A written request can be made to have a site unblocked if its educational - 47 -
