For these books you will need long strips of paper, hard card for the covers and

covering materials (wallpaper or fabric) cut bigger than the hard covers.

2

The tools you will need are scissors, ruler, pencil, double sided sticky tape, a

bonefolder, glue and a length of ribbon.

3

Measure the width of the double sided tape at the end of the inside paper.

4

Hold your ruler at this width on the paper.

5

Then use your bonefolder to crease the distance marked.

6

Fold the long ends of the paper together - leaving the creased edges standing

free.

7

Use the bonefolder to crease the edge.

8

Then keep folding the pages

9

and creasing until you have a suitable length.

10

Once both pieces of paper have been folded, you need to join them.

11

The two creases sit inside each other.

12

Its a good idea to mark the sides to stick with a small pencil mark.

13

Use double sided tape on both sheets of paper to stick.

14

Stick the pages together...

15

...and rub well.

16

The inside pages are now ready!

17

With the covering material upside down on waste paper...

18

...glue all the back of it.

19

Now place the card for the front cover on the glued covering material.

20

Turn in the four corners by folding them and making sure they stick.

21

Then fold all the edges over the cover and stick down well.

22

Rub down the cover well, making sure there are no air bubbles.

23

Rub down the edges well, making sure there are no air bubbles.

24

Repeat steps 21, 22, 23 and 24, for the back cover.

25

For the ribbon, stick some double sided tape inside one cover.

26

Remove the backing from the tape and stick down the ribbon end.

27

Put some waste paper inside the folded pages.

28

Glue out the end page of the folded stack.

29

Stick the glued page onto the front cover and rub down well.

30

Glue out the end page of the folded stack.

31

Stick the glued page onto the cover and rub down well

32

Repeat for back cover.

Wrap the ribbon around and tuck under to close.

33

Please leave your book closed under a heavy weight as soon as you make it - so

the glued paper dries flat. A couple of phone books, a brick or any heavy

object will do. Ideally leave it overnight - then you will have finished your book

and it will be all ready to use!
