Description.—U.S.N.M. No. 65733, an adult male from Samand<br />

and Laguna, D. R., taken by Dr. W. L. Abbott in March 1923.<br />

Tongue broader than long, sUghtly emarginate behmd; vomerine<br />

teeth in two straight heavy groups on a line with the posterior borders<br />

of the choanae; head broader than long; nostrils near the tip of the<br />

snout, their distance from each other equal to their distance from the<br />

eye; snout rounded; interorbital width equal to the greatest diameter<br />

of the eye; no indication of ossification in the derm of the head;<br />

canthus rostralis rounded, the loreal region concave, and the upper<br />

hp projecting conspicuously; tympanum distinct, its width shghtly<br />

more than half that of the eye; the hind limb being adpressed, the<br />

tibio tarsal articulation reaches beyond the tip of the snout; digits<br />

with large disks, those of the fingers about equal to the tympanum,<br />

those of the toes about two-thirds the size of the tympanum; fingers<br />

with the merest trace of a web, toes one-half webbed; skin minutely<br />

glandular above, practically smooth; tliroat, chest, abdomen, and<br />

thighs coarsely granular; a supratympanic fold continuing backward<br />

behind the ear and ending just above the insertion of the shoulder;<br />

a very sUght dorsolateral fold; a pair of external vocal sacs. Male in<br />

the breeding season with a large black horny patch on the inner portion<br />

of the first finger and with a very prominent fold of skin across the<br />

throat.<br />

Color (in alcohol) : Upper parts deep fawn color, lightening toward<br />

the extremities; a narrow light median dorsal line (golden-yellow in<br />

Ufe); a light fine beginning above the nostril, continuing back along<br />

the canthus rostrahs, through the eye, above the tympanum and<br />

along the sides, curving inward toward the vent ; a brighter but more
