the Essential Health and Safety Requirements relating <strong>to</strong> the design and construction of equipment and<br />

protective systems intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres, given in Annex II <strong>to</strong> the<br />

Directive.<br />

The examination and test results are recorded in the confidential report <strong>PTB</strong> Ex <strong>99</strong>-29226.<br />

(9) Compliance with the Essential Health and Safety Requirements has been assured by compliance with:<br />

EN 50 014: 1<strong>99</strong>7 EN 50 020: 1<strong>99</strong>4<br />

(10) If the sign "X" is placed behind the certificate number it indicates special conditions for safe use of the<br />

equipment specified in the schedule <strong>to</strong> this certificate.<br />

(11) This <strong>EC</strong>-type-examination <strong>Certificate</strong> relates only <strong>to</strong> the design and construction of the specified<br />

component in accordance with Directive 94/9/<strong>EC</strong>. Further requirements of this Directive apply <strong>to</strong> the<br />

manufacture and supply of this component.<br />

(15) Description of component<br />

The CPU & Power Module <strong>Type</strong> 9440/15-..-1. is an associated apparatus for use outside the<br />

hazardous area and is used for data transmission between hazardous and non-hazardous<br />

areas; in combination with the associated BusRail or the associated transmission cables and<br />

the intrinsically safe I/O modules intended for this use, it forms the Bus system <strong>Type</strong> I.S. 1. Up<br />

<strong>to</strong> two CPU & Power Modules and up <strong>to</strong> two BusRails, each with a maximum of 16 I/O<br />

modules, can be inserted in<strong>to</strong> a system.<br />

The permissible ambient temperature range is –20 °C ≤ Ta ≤ 65 °C.<br />

The intrinsically safe circuits (secondary) are connected with each other via the reference<br />

circuit, safely galvanically isolated <strong>to</strong> ground from all primary circuits up <strong>to</strong> a peak voltage value<br />

of 375 V.<br />
