Council Directive 94/9/EC of 23 March 1994, certifies that this equipment has been found to comply with

the Essential Health and Safety Requirements relating to the design and construction of equipment and

protective systems intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres, given in Annex II to the

Directive.

The examination and test results are recorded in the confidential report PTB Ex 99-29164.

(9) Compliance with the Essential Health and Safety Requirements has been assured by compliance with:

EN 50 014: 1997 EN 50 020: 1994

(10) If the sign "X" is placed behind the certificate number it indicates special conditions for safe use of the

equipment specified in the schedule to this certificate.

(11) This EC-type-examination Certificate relates only to the design and construction of the specified

component in accordance with Directive 94/9/EC. Further requirements of this Directive apply to the

manufacture and supply of this component.

(15) Description of component

The Digital Input Module Type 9470/.2-..-11 is designed for installation up to the hazard range

in Zone 1. It is used for the acquisition and transmission of up to 16 binary signals (e.g.

proximity switches as per DIN 19 234).

The Digital Input Modules are intended for operation with the Bus system Type I.S. 1.

The permissible ambient temperature range is -20°C ≤ Ta ≤ 65°C.

The primary and secondary circuits are safely isolated from ground and galvanically isolated

up to a peak voltage value of 60 V.

The interference voltage discharge connection is safely galvanically isolated from all other

circuits up to a peak voltage value of 60 V.

The input circuits (secondary) are galvanically connected with each other via the return

conductor.
