For over 35 years Van der Vliet Quality Yachts has served

her world-wide clients in selling and purchasing of motor

& sailing yachts. The company has established a firm

place in the Dutch-built-and-designed segment of the

yachting industry. Van der Vliet Quality Yachts was

launched by Ad van der Vliet who became the youngest

Dutch qualified yacht broker. In 1980 the 15,000 m² yard

in Muiden was purchased and became Van der Vliet

Quality Yacht's European central sales marina with a service

& refit yard. In those days these facilities were the

ideal key-tools to match the buyer and seller. The company

vision changed with the arrival of the internet. In

1995 we chose to migrate from the sales marina concept

to an online environment. This automatically gave us a

more global position that has strengthened the basis of

our international company today. Van der Vliet's familyorientated

business offers both expertise and dedication.

growth as a company. Our Zaandam headquarters

have been extended with an impressive

new facility containing, among others,

a showroom and training centre. In the

months ahead we will renovate the former

HQ complex, after which both sites will be

officially opened with a festive ceremony in

May/June 2013.

Meanwhile, we continue to make waves on


an international level. Further steps have

recently been taken to support this growth

by opening new offices in Barcelona and

Mallorca and a sales office in Cannes.

This expansion and the objectives which we

have in mind for the coming years warrant a

new, international name and modern logo.

Hogenelst Superyacht Interiors from

Workum has got an order from the USA.

It concerns a full refit of a 27 meter motor


“The design as well as the production drawings

will be made by Vripack from Sneek,

after this the interior will be produced and

fitted by us.” says Jacob Rienstra, managing

director of Hogenelst.

Mulder Shipyard in the Netherlands is

enjoying a very busy time with a number

of fine yachts recently launched and several

new ones slated for delivery in the

near future. In addition, the yard’s extra

new facility in Zoeterwoude Rijndijk will

be ready in the next few weeks. This site

will open a new era for Mulder Shipyard,

which celebrates its 75th anniversary in

2013. The existing yard in Voorschoten

will stay open and be used for maintenance,

refit and storage of yachts of up to

18 metres.

In the coming period, Mulder Shipyard

will devote considerable attention to

showcasing its impressive options for refits.

The two dry docks in the new facility

are 55 m long and 12 m wide, and will be

ideally suited for work on larger hulls.

range of services, covering everything

Class yacht Firefly in 2011, Claasen Shipyards

has managed to secure contracts for

the build of a 72 foot Berret Racoupeau

performance sailing yacht (delivery summer

2013) and recently for a 60 ft Dykstra

Pilot Cutter (delivery June 2013).

A Hoek 126 ft. Classic Sloop

This beautifully lined, fast and classic yacht

has been designed to unite high technology

and nautical passion. The Hoek 126 ft

is fully aluminium, providing structural

strength with light weight, designed for

The yacht will feature a traditional classic

hull with sweeping sheer line, and long

overhangs. The layout on deck is based on


a proven concept of a private master cockpit

aft and a centrally positioned guest

allow for both inside and outside dining

and lounging.

The towering carbon rig will feature a full

set of carbon rigging and suit of modern

racing sails. Down below the main salon is

positioned aft of the full width engine

room and forward of the full width master

stateroom. The salon will be fitted with a

fireplace and high end entertainment systems.

In the stateroom, mirrored around

the centreline there will be a separate

head and shower. Against the aft bulkhead

there will be a king size bed flanked by

comfortable seating on either side. All

guest areas will be fitted with hull ports to

provide the required natural light.

Forward of the engine room there are two

generous guest cabins, one double and one

twin. The area forward of the mast is re-


served for the 5 crew members. A spacious

galley and crew mess, laundry and three

Claasen Shipyards BV

Claasen Shipyards has donated two historic

trophies to the J-Class association for presentation

to the winners of J-Class Regattas.

The annual series for these trophies will be

based on regattas agreed by the J-Class association

each year. This year it has been

based on the overall scores from the Solent

Regatta (won by Velsheda) and the

Hundred Guinea Cup race in July 2012

(won by Lionheart).

The Corinthian King’s Cup – 1914

An impressive silver yachting trophy of 47

cm high, engraved “The Kings Cups” –

originally presented by King George V in

1914 to the first winner Charles McIver

with his sailing yacht “Cestrian”. This cup

has been renamed “The Corinthian Kings

Cup” and will be presented each year as a

perpetual trophy “for friendly competition

between J-Class yachts, sailed by their

amateur owner”. The trophy is on permanent

loan from the Royal Northern and

Clyde Yacht Club.

The Corinthian King’s Cup for the regatta’s

best amateur helmsman was won by Velsheda

because of her great results in the

Solent Regatta July 2012 (two wins a second

and a fourth).

King’s Hundred Guinea Cup – 1937

This wonderful Gilt trophy of 54 cm high

was originally presented by King George VI

at the Royal

Northern and Clyde Yacht Club in 1937.

The trophy was last won by Eric Maxwell

with the 12-Metre yacht Scepter which

competed against the American defender

Columbia in the 1958 America’s Cup. Mr.

Maxwell was a member of the Royal

Northern and Clyde Yacht Club.

Now known as the “King’s Hundred Guinea

Cup” and presented to the winning J Class

yacht Lionheart (built by Claasen) in the

race around the Isle of Wight on 21st July

2012. Lionheart was competing in her first

J-Class regatta season.
