Analysis: A lovely ride from apprentice Sam Clipperton who<br />
positioned Monton in sixth place along the inside, smothered<br />
away to the home turn where he eased off heels to <strong>com</strong>e between<br />
horses, quickening up into the lead to strike the front 100m and<br />
stay on strongly. Lightinthenite looked to have every chance.<br />
Settled in midfield, he was pressing to challenge into the straight,<br />
running on well all the way to the line. Viva Las ran a career best<br />
off the back of a last start win at Gundagai. Driving through to<br />
hold the lead she set a steady pace and was still in front turning<br />
for home. She stayed on very gamely and was not beaten all that<br />
far. Mentality ran his usual honest race. In second place to the<br />
home turn, he chased all the way in the straight, one-pace through<br />
