Alfred Wöhner founds an electrical
installation business in his home in
Mönchröden/Rödental
1939
A new building with offices is constructed
to house the company
1951
Expansion of the factory space, start of
in-house metal production (press shop,
thread cutting machine, electroplating
shop, tool making)
1954
An extension is built for an automated
turning shop and in-house tool making
facilities for metal production
1964
The company acquires its first plastic
injection moulding
1977
Acquisition of the company Georg Schade
in Karlsruhe; production moved to Rödental
1986
High rack warehouse for semi-finished
goods and raw materials is completed
1994
Fully automated logistics centre is
completed and brought into operation;
company founded in France
1995
Companies founded in China and Great
Britain; corporate design is developed
and implemented to give the company a
standardised image throughout the world

launch of the new CrossLink® Technology

Completion and commissioning of the
new logistics centre containing 23,000

Market launch of the 60mm-System
compact, 4- and 5-pole products and
special fuse holder for photovoltaic

Announcement of a cooperative project
with Eaton on SmartWire DT Technology;
start-up of fully automated product workstation
for D0 fuse bases

Announcement of the “Partnership
of Experts” – collaboration between
Eaton, Phoenix Contact and Wöhner.
This led to the market launch of the
MOTUS®ContractronControl motor
