The EU defines the central Franconian region surrounding
Nuremberg as a “gateway region” – a commercial
geographical hub in links with Eastern and
Southern Europe. The Bavarian port of Nuremberg

The principal items of cargo which are transferred by
ship are fertilisers, grain, building materials, coal and
feedstuffs as well as very heavy cargo weighing up
to 1250 t shifted using a roll-on/roll-off facility with
a heavy cargo site.

the seamless transfer of cargo
When it comes to transferring ship cargos, 8 full gantry
level luffing slewing cranes with a lifting capacity of
up to 40 t and conveyor belt and suction facilities are
available on a quayside infrastructure covering a
length of 5,300 metres for transferring goods between
ships and lorries.
A roll-on/roll-off loading facility for loads of up to 1,250
t as well as heavy cargo handling facilities and additional
mobile equipment can deal with any loading task.
The port railway station and 42 km of track guarantee
smooth links with railborne transport.
