Insulin tolerance test in rabbits: The rabbits were<br />
divided into 5 groups with 6-7 animals in each group.<br />
Each group received regular human insulin <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> three<br />
different brands stored at 5 different <str<strong>on</strong>g>temperature</str<strong>on</strong>g>s for<br />
25 days. The vial was opened <strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong> 25 th day. Rabbits<br />
were deprived <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> food but not <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> water for 2 h before<br />
<strong>the</strong> start <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> experiment. Insulin was injected at <strong>the</strong><br />
dose <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> 0.75 units/kg body weight intraperit<strong>on</strong>eally 11 .<br />
The blood sugar was determined at 0, 15, 30 and 60<br />
min from <strong>the</strong> ear vein using a glucometer 12 (Optium<br />
Xceed, Abbott Diabetes Care Inc., USA).<br />
Statistical analysis: The c<strong>on</strong>centrati<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> insulin<br />
by <strong>the</strong> HPLC method was reported as mean. Indian<br />
pharmacoepia recommends a deviati<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> up to ± 10<br />
per cent <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> stated label claim <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> insulin and this<br />
was followed. Data were expressed as mean ± standard<br />
error <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> mean (SEM). Comparis<strong>on</strong>s between groups was<br />
d<strong>on</strong>e using <strong>on</strong>e way ANOVA, followed by <strong>the</strong> Dunnett’s<br />
multiple comparis<strong>on</strong>s test. P
