4.2 (b) Scope for research and development direction for future initiatives ISSUES They do not possess the requisite skill or expertise to carry out any kind of research and development on a regular basis. The tools and equipments are very basic in nature; therefore there is a lack of production. Due to lack of R&D the quality of the products is adversely affected in the long run. They do not have enough funds, time and expertise to carry out research and development on a regular basis. The Govt. of India & Govt. of Assam has introduced many schemes & projects for the artisans & entrepreneurs are engaged with <strong>bamboo</strong> craft. Many promotional <strong>org</strong>anization are linked for the promotion of the products in terms of marketing as well as product development. The artisans were given many information about the technology scheme, about modern market, new designs for product upgradation which will help them in future. The artisans are also given opportunity to take loans under govt. sponsored schemes with subsidies to upgrade their business and earn more. The artisans will also be given opportunity to participate in exhibition & fairs in different parts of the country and also in international market. In this way they can promote their products.
