Foreword

It’s an absolute privilege to be able to introduce the

Rotherham Children and Young People’s Festival 2010.

This is a landmark event in the development of

Transforming Rotherham Learning, our commitment to

provide a world class education for all our children and

young people across the Borough. As Standards and

Achievement in our schools continue to rise and an

increasing number of young people progress into

further and higher education and training, what better

time to celebrate the rich range of our learners’ talents

and creativity? The 2010 Festival brings together

several cutting edge programmes which already enjoy an

international reputation – Rotherham Ready, Picture

This! and the ROSCARs - with new initiatives including

the Imagination Library and Inspire Rotherham which

represent our shared commitment to equal opportunity

and exciting learning experiences for all our children

from the very beginning of their lives. The flair and

verve of our young people will be on show across a

broad range of creative activities, including enterprise,

music, drama and new technologies, where Rotherham

schools and partner organisations such as Rotherham

United FC, the Get Real Team and the Local Strategic

Partnership are recognised as national leaders. Please

join us and make this Festival a celebration of all the

best our community can offer and an inspiration to

ensure the future for Rotherham’s children and young

people is everything they deserve.
