“CALLE CASA
IS MADE FOR YOU”
―How‘s your seminary life?‖ ―How did you find
the seminary?‖ ―What did you do in the seminary?‖
These are the questions that most people often asked
when they met a seminarian. People are fond of asking
these questions but it is better to ask, ―how‘s your vocation?‖
than asking ―how‘s your seminary life?‖
In our present society, people perceive the seminary
as a place of deprivation from the world of entertainment,
of games, television etc. For them, it is a place
for contemplation and prayer. As a result of this mentality,
they wonder on how a seminarian can survive in the
seminary without having those pleasures.
On the other hand, these perceptions of some
people about the seminary life is incomplete. We need to
fix it through the help of this publication. CALLE CASA
is the name of the new newsletter of the Adornos. This
paper will feature and report the activities and happenings
in the seminary.
CALLE CASA- literally means ―House in the
Street or Street House‖ is technically an acronym
wherein C- means celebrating, A- stands for adoring, Lliving,
L- loving, E- for Eucharist. Finally, ―CASA‖ is a
coined name which mainly pertains to the four aspects of
our seminary life.
Before the name CALLE CASA was agreed upon
by the staff, several discussions and brain storming took
place. As a result, two suggested names were voted upon.
First was ―CASA for Christ‖ and the second one was
―CALE CASA‖. CALE CASA was unanimously approved
as the official name through voting. It was Fr. Jason who
suggested to add one more ―L‖ in the word ―CALE‖ to make
it more profound and meaningful. Finally it became
―CALLE CASA‖ instead of ―CALE CASA.‖
CALLE CASA as what Fr. Jason (the one who initiated
this newsletter) said ―will serve as the means of communicating
with our families, friends, relatives and most
especially to our beloved benefactors!,‖ he added, ― that everyone
will be well informed and updated of all the activities,
projects and other things that we are doing here in the seminary
and for them to know that we are not wasting our time
in the seminary but fruitfully using it for the sake of Christ
our Lord!‖
Specifically, this gazette is not only for us seminarians,
but for you my dear readers, so that you may be fully
aware about us, about the ADORNO FATHERS in the Philippines
and as a sign of our deep gratitude to you because
you‘re also part of our life!
CALLE CASA is for all of us! acknowledge it!;
cherish it!; and be part of it…!
June - October 2009
Dear Friends,
The General Assembly which took place in Rome this past July
brought many different changes to the personnel of the Adorno
Fathers worldwide, including the Filipino-American Delegation.
My appointment as the Rector/Superior and Novice Master
of the Adorno Fathers Seminary in Vinzons, Camarines
Norte, Philippines is a new assignment for me. I arrived at our
seminary on August 25, 2009 with much enthusiasm. One of
the many programs that the community of Vinzons starting this
school year is a newsletter for our seminary. After consulting
with my fellow formators, I handpicked the Editorial Board of
the above-mentioned project. The first task of the Board was to
come up with a new name for our newsletter. Many different
suggestions and ideas came about and after much thought and
reflection, I am so proud that we have come up with a name
which will surely help you learn more about our life in the
seminary.
I would like to welcome you to the first issue of CALLE
CASA, the official publication of the Adorno Fathers Formation
House in Vinzons, Camarines Norte Philippines. This
newsletter will be a means to keep in touch with our families,
friends and benefactors. CALLE CASA was conceptualized by
the Editorial Board and it is a perfect definition of the formation
program we have in the seminary. CALLE is an acronym
for Celebrating, Adoring, Living and Loving the Eucharist.
CASA is a concept for the four aspects of our seminary formation.
C for Community, A for Academics, S for Spiritual and A
for Apostolate.
I hope that you will take part in our journey here in the seminary
as you read the news, articles and literary pieces written
by our own seminarians. I ask you to pray for these young men
who are discerning their vocation to the priesthood and religious
life. Thank you very much for all your support and rest
assured of our prayers for you and your family to the Greater
Glory of the Risen Christ!
7 New Seminarians
Jan Christopher Gamit
After passing a set of tests and interviews,
seven new seminarians responded to the invitation to
study for the priesthood. With gratitude to the Lord,
the Adorno Fathers welcomed them last May. They
were given a week of orientation of rules and regulations
in the seminary before the arrival of the rest of
the community last June.
The seminary student body reflects a growing
ethnic diversity. One seminarian was born in
Mexico City, Mexico, One from Makati City, two
from Glan, Saranggani Province, two from Labo,
Camarines Norte, and one from San Vicente, Camarines
ADORNO FATHERS CELEBRATE
THE FEAST OF THE FOUNDER SAINT
Rufino C. Madridejos Jr.
On June 4, 2009, the Adorno Fathers‘ Community in
the Philippines celebrated the feast of St. Francis Caracciolo—
the founder of the order.
The occasion
started with the celebration
of the Holy
Eucharist presided by
Rev. Fr. Nestor Abog
Jr. CRM, the superior
of the seminary of that
time, together with the
other formators, Rev.
The ADORNO FATHERS together with the
Clergy of the Diocese of Daet
SHOUT FOR JOY
Kevin A. Daborbor
Fr. Ted Kalaw CRM,
Rev. Fr. Gerry Coquilla
CRM and sixteen
priests from the
Diocese of Daet.
Already before the feast, all the seminarians were busy
with their respective duties. Some were assigned to prepare the
grounds; some to decorate the chapel and function hall and others
prepare the menu and program for the celebration.
An audition was held at the Adorno Fathers‘ Formation
House in Vinzons, Camarines Norte on July 7,
2009 to recruit for the the Adorno Children‘s Choir.
More than forty students from Sto. Domingo Elementary
School from grades 3-6 participated in the audition.
The Adorno Children‘s Choir was organized by Rev.
Fr. Nestor M. Abog, Jr., CRM, the former superior of the
Adorno Fathers‘ Formation House in Vinzons. The audition
was facilitated by Bro. Noly Beruega, a fourth year
theologian in Ramsey, and some seminarians of the
Adorno Fathers in Vinzons. This project aims to encourage
the children to participate in the Holy Mass and enable
them to enhance their talents in singing.
Twenty-four children were selected to be part of
the choir. Choir practice is held every Tuesday, Thursday,
Saturday and Sunday at 4:30 – 5:30 pm at the Adorno Fathers
compound. The first of which was held on July 21,
2009.
The Children‘s Choir had their first public debut
The Eucharistic celebration started at 10
o‘clock in the morning. Many people attended the
celebration including twelve diocesan clergy, three
priests from the Congregation of the Disciples of
Hope and one from Piarist Fathers, some sisters from
different congregations, members of the Apostleship
of Prayer, seminary benefactors and friends of our
community.
The twenty eight seminarians were divided
into different work areas to serve as ushers, altar servers,
lectors and choir together with Mr. Ronald Dolor
as pianist. Sem. Kevin Daborbor read the first reading
while Sem. JC Gamit was the psalmist and Bro. Kimber
Reyes, one of the novices, was assigned to read
the second reading. Fr. Ted proclaimed the Gospel
and thereafter preached an inspiring homily with some
excerpts from the life and teachings of St. Francis Caracciolo.
After the Mass, everyone proceeded to the
function hall for the reception and fellowship. The
sumptuous meal was prepared by the seminarians.
This special day served as a fitting tribute to St. Francis
Caracciolo and to other founders, Ven. Augustine
Adorno and Fr. Fabrizio Caracciolo. It is an important
day to remember the life and goal of the Adorno or
Caracciolini Fathers in the world.
on July 12, 2009 when they performed an action song after
the Mass. This was intended to build their confidence in
front of the crowd and to introduce them to the faithful.
The children‘s choir as of now has been regularly singing
at Mass along with the seminarians.
The Adorno Community in Vinzons is glad to
have a children‘s choir in their seminary. It is evident that
many of the children want not only to show their skill in
singing but to express their deepest gratitude to the Lord
who gives them such a talent!
Reaching Out the Young for Christ
The month of
October is marked red in
the calendar not only by
the non-Christians but
more so by the private
sectarian schools and
colleges in the celebration
of the month of the
rosary.
Recently, the
Holy Trinity College
Seminary together with
the Adorno Fathers celebrated
the intramurals
held at the HTCS while different events were launched. This
year, 2009 is dedicated for the year of the priests.
The objectives of the Intramurals Celebration were
the following:
1. to build a harmonious relationship
Mardy Aguilar
The Adorno Seminarians proclaim the Good News by giving
Catechesis to the students of D.Q Liwag High School and Sto. Domingo
Elementary School. They catechize the young people by sharing with
them their Catholic faith. Seminarian Christopher Maigue (one of the
catechists) has been teaching the students (elementary and high school)
for four years already. Brother Chris shared his experiences in teaching
for four years. He says: ―I am very contented to have this simple apostolate
with the students of our community. I do not only learn about them,
but I also learn more about the teachings of the Catholic Church‖.
When I interviewed Bro. Maigue last September 29, 2009, one of his
students (―GG‖) in High School said in my interview; ―I want to feel the
presence of God’s love.” Bro. Maigue was surprised when he heard the
student and said; those simple words give me big challenges in my vocation
as a seminarian because I have to learn how to share the love of
God through my presence and my availability to them. Bro. Maigue also
contends that the students do not only learn from the apostolate he is doing
but it also helps his vocation and gain more knowledge about the
catechism of the Catholic Church.
The seminarians also plan to visit the Provincial Hospital and the
Regional Jail as part of their apostolate. This shows the eagerness of the
seminarians to follow the footsteps of their founder to the greater Glory
of The Risen Christ.
2. to create a strong Christian community
3. to develop sportsmanship and camaraderie
4. to enhance one‘s talent and skills
5. to live and act in accordance with the will of
God and
6. to enjoy and share the joy of a seminarian in
the truest sense of the word.
The activities commenced with a procession
within the quadrangle of the Holy Trinity College Seminary.
The Intramurals was formally opened with the
opening prayer led by Sem. Vinson Salvaloza, one of the
Adorno Fathers seminarians. This was followed by an
inspirational talk of Rev. Fr. Cesar Echano. He explained
that the game that starts well ends well.
There were four teams named after the great
priests namely Caracciolo, Vianney, Barlin and Cabalquinto.
Each team introduced itself through a jingle.
It was a time for fun and a great break from their hectic
academic schedule. It shows that “all work without play
makes a seminarian a dull servant of Jesus Christ.”.
At the conclusion of the four-day intramurals,
the Caracciolo team bags the over-all champion and
brings home the bacon! It was followed by Barlin team,
Vianney and the last but not the least the Cabaquinto
team.
The Making
of CASA
Jan Christopher Gamit
Last August 26, Fr. Jason Caganap,
CRM, started the reorganization of
the seminary formation by regrouping
the community into four committees
called CASA which means Community,
PIOUS SEMINARIANS: SPENT AN OVERNIGHT
ADORATION BEFORE THE BLESSED SACRAMENT
Vinson Salvaloza
Every first Friday of the month marks the most
unforgettable and memorable experience in the seminary
calendar. It is the day that most of the seminarians await
as they prepare themselves for a day of penance and sacrifice.
The seminary community started this devotion on
the First Friday of September. The twenty four seminarians,
including the two novices and three formators headed
by Rev. Fr. Jason Caganap (recently appointed rector),
were gathered together in the chapel of the Sanctuary of
Jesus the Risen Lord, to formally begin the celebration
called ―First Friday Devotion‖.
The said activity started at exactly 6 o‘clock in the
evening with the celebration of Evening Prayer. The
Blessed Sacrament is transferred from the chapel to the
oratory and each seminarian is assigned to spend at least a
minimum of one hour before the Blessed Sacrament. The
overnight vigil started at 7 o‘ clock in the evening and
ended at 6:00 o‘clock in the morning the next day. Part of
the devotion is the availability of a priest for confession
while others are keeping vigil.
The purpose of this activity is to make penance
and sacrifice for the sanctification of every people and for
the salvation of all. Fr. Jason in his homily mentioned
that, ―this activity that we are doing (First Friday Devotion)
will help us grow in holiness by simple prayer, penance
and sacrifice as what Jesus is asking of us, so that we
could not only save our souls but also the souls of other
people.‖
This devotion is a communal suggestion because
every seminarian feels that it will help them to strengthen
the zeal of their vocation and to have an intimate relationship
with Jesus, so that they will become more holy like
one of their founders St. Francis Caracciolo, who loves
Apostolate, Spiritual and Academic.
These four areas pertain to the aspects
of formation in the seminary.
The reorganization aims to rebuild
and empower the spirit of community
life as well as to strengthen the
bond between the seminarians and
priests. It also aims to bring quality
human formation for future Adornos.
The four committees are
headed by their servant leaders. Christopher
Maigue the servant leader for
the Community, Mardy Aguilar for
Apostolate, Arjay De Jesus for Spiritual
and Jan Christopher Gamit for
Academic. They, together with the
priests and the entire community, design
activities to help seminarians
respond to the requirements of the
formation and to build fraternal life in
the seminary.
Jesus in the Eucharist very much
Finally, this activity certainly reflects the charism
of the Adorno Fathers, which is the Holy Eucharist, as the
center of the life of every Adorno Father. Thus adoration
as what other priests said ― will unite us to the love of God
and to Jesus our Lord for the building of the kingdom of
God here on earth!‖
Seminarian Mardy Aguilar while having his individual adoration at two
o’clock in the morning.
June - October 2009
Arjay De Jesus wears his angelic
costume
On September 29,
2009, the seminarians of the
Adorno Fathers Formation
House hosted a celebration
to commemorate the feast
day of St. Michael the Archangel,
one of the patron
saints and protectors of the
Order, as well as the death
anniversary of Venerable Augustine Adorno. The celebration
began early in the morning with the prayer to St. Michael
followed by the Morning Prayer. At noon, the seminarians,
together with their rector, once again took time to
pray the same prayer dedicated to the Archangel. After vespers,
the celebration of the Eucharist in honor of the Archangels
took place at the Sanctuary of the Risen Lord, with
as concelebrants. At the end of the Eucharistic Celebration,
the seminarians together with their formators concluded the
novena in honor of St. Michael.
The devotion of the Order to their patron saint and
protector was not only shown by means of prayer and the
Eucharistic Celebration, but also, by preparing a costume
party, which took place at 7:30 p.m. at the Adorno Fathers
reception hall. A power point presentation gave the history
of the devotion to the Archangel during a delicious dinner.
The seminarians were dressed up with different kinds of
costumes, including angels, exorcists, killers, crazy janitors
and even an apostle, but what caught the attention of every-
We ask our friends to support the House of Formation
was not only to have fun in the different activities and
Sem. Arjay Luis De Jesus and his spirituality
staff, but also to build community with each other, especially
between the new seminarians and the older seminarians.
The costumes were designed to show the function
of the Archangel in protecting and keeping, not only the
Order, but the world from the snares of the evil one. The
Rector of The Adorno Fathers‘ Seminary said; ―Seminary
is a place where we always see people come and go for
different reasons and sometimes the only thing that‘s left
are the memories of the times that were spent together.‖
This celebration was an opportunity to create good memories.
These memories can last a life time and this will help
us to recall the good times we have spent together on that
evening when the feast of our patron saint- St. Michael the
Archangel was celebrated for the greater glory of the risen
Christ. It will be a memory which will always remain with
us.
Memories of Friendship
Herodion Gapas
You are the light of my life
A light that brightens my night
A night that is full of mystery
Only you my friend can comfort me.
I pray to pass the night
To witness the new morning comes
To be with you again my friend
To share our memories again.
I woke up early in the morning
Waiting for the sun to shine
To witness the lightness of a new day
To start our new memory.
We‘ve been together all day long
Sometimes with other friends that we had
Sometimes I thought you forgot me
Because you didn‘t talk to me.
Thank you my friend for your understanding
Thank you for your caring
Thank you for the faith you shared to me
To trust God is the only way.
I know you didn‘t like me
But I‘m sure you love me
As a friend you‘re always there for me
To guide and protect me.
Friend I hope that you will not change
That our friendship will never end
That whatever happens
You and I will still be friends.
The Art of a Seminarian
Bro. C
A seminarian is called to be holy
He is the chosen one.
The Lord called him to be a good servant,
He is a selfless man.
A seminarian sets his trust on the Lord.
He loves the Lord above anything else.
He is a channel of God’s grace
And he prays for all of us.
A seminarian is a Marian devotee
He believes on Mary’s love.
He prays the rosary regularly,
He is a son of Mary.
A seminarian’s faith is built upon the rock
He keeps on moving
He never surrenders
His vocation is deeply founded in Christ.
A seminarian is a peace-maker
He is a humble servant.
He humbly accepts his brother’s corrections.
He does not get angry when someone hurts
him
Rather he prays for those who persecute him.
A seminarian sees his brother’s needs
He helps his brothers overcome their struggles
He prays and offers his hands for them
He is a good brother for all.
Above all, a seminarian is a lover of God
He totally surrenders himself to God, for God
And only in God …
The key to find our vocation is
PRAYER!
Who is He?
Kevin Daborbor
He comforts you when you cry.
He makes your tears dry.
He helps you to lessen the burden.
He guides you when there is a problem.
He gives shelter when you need rest.
He gives water when you thirst.
He gives food when you are hungry.
Whatever you want He gives it abundantly.
He will search you when you are lost.
His love is without a cost.
He is there when you are lonely.
And He will hug you more tightly.
9
He gives strength when you are weak.
He defends you from the enemy seven days a
week.
He hears you if you are in agony.
He comforts you when you are in misery.
He prays for you everyday
To assure that you are safe
He leads you away from danger
For you to be secured
He did this just for you.
But you ignored what He does.
You are busy with other friends
And not recognizing that He is your Best friend.
You did nothing for Him.
Even He let the people crucify Him
HE did this to save you from sin.
And he will rise once more to see you again.
Who is HE who did this for you?
Who is He who saves you?
Who is He who is very caring?
He is Jesus who loves you from the beginning.

Isang umagang maalinsangan ang nagbigay
sa akin ng pagkakataon upang mapagmasdan
ang isang pinagpalang nilalang sa di-kalayuan ng
aming bintana.
at pag-aalala.
lumang muwebles at sira-sirang kasangkapan.
at may hinahanap. Naramdaman ko ang ampiyas
na nagmumula sa aking bintana. Labag
Silang walang kapaguran at walang ibang ninanais
kundi ang mairaos kaming pitong magkakapatid.
Muli kong naalala ang ibon. Paano
kung ito rin ay may inakay? Paano nito magagawang
kayang lampasan subalit lagi nating
tatandaan na mayroong
laging nagmamasid
sa atin sa
bawat oras. Laging
nandiyan sa lahat ng
ating pangangailangan. Tumawag
lang tayo sa KANYA at
magtiwala na ang lahat ng ating
mga panalangin ay kanyang
diringgin at ipagkakaloob sa
tamang panahon.

12
Vocation Encounter
Rafael Padron
Rafael while praying at the chapel together with the seminarians
and parishioners
y compañía aprendo a confiar

KNOWING OUR NEW RECTOR
Bro. C.
Fr. Jason Caganap, CRM while extending his
gratitude to the seminarians for the welcome
party they prepared for him.
13
“You are now safe under your new rector’s hand.”
These were the last words that our former Rector, Rev. Fr.
Nestor ‗Jun‘ Abog said as he left us. These words calmed
the sadness that was instilled in our hearts upon Fr. Jun‘s
departure. We learned a lot from him and we will treasure all the good things
that he has implanted in us for the growth of our vocation.
“The chosen one.” The Superior General of the Adorno Fathers (Clerics Regular
Caganap, C.R.M. to be the new Rector of our Formation House here in the Philippines.
He is a native of Cavite (Caviteño). He was ordained to the priesthood
on December 07, 2002 with Rev. Fr. German Coquilla C.R.M. in the Parish of
the Immaculate Conception, Goose Creek, South Carolina, USA.
―A Welcoming Party.” ―Nakakatakot!‖(It‘s frightening!) One of the seminarians
exclaimed before the rector arrived on August 25, 2009. Everyone was very
excited to see the new rector‘s face. We prepared a welcome party for him. We
cooked pancit-bato, BBQ, bicol express, chopsuey, sinantol, and fried chicken.
These were the foods that he had not tasted in a long time. ―Hay naku!‖ We all
sighed after we discovered that he was indeed a kind person.
―A Jolly Priest.” Fr. Jason is a jolly person. He always smiles. We see in his
smile the happiness that awaits us when we become an Adorno priest in the future.
He shows us God‘s love by his killer smile. His smile reminds us that we
too should be happy with our vocation, and that we should also be kind to one
another.
“A Zealous Rector and a BIG BOSS.” Father Rector knows how to unite his
community. He sets duties that will nourish us in holiness. He spares time to
talk with us to help us with our struggles in life. Of course, it is Fr. Jason who is responsible for all of us. He is our
model as we go along this journey towards the religious life. He is our big boss; everything that he asks of us should
be followed because we know that God is working through him.
“MEAT, our Rector…” our Rector‘s favorite is meat. He loves to eat meat rather than fish. He knows meat
very well. Maybe for him, fish should be nurtured because he has recently installed an aquarium where his fish are
being nourished.
“A Team Leader.” Fr. Jason knows well about the happiness of the seminarians: Sports and recreation. This
is the time that we can play together. We love sports. Fr. Jason is also a sports‘ lover. He can play volleyball and basketball.
Like a good team leader, he knows how to handle us. Hay naku! Ang saya talaga niyang kasama (Oh Man, it‘s
so much fun to be around him) because he reminds us that we are not alone in our journey. Nagsisimula palang ang
lahat…Kasama namin sya tulad ni Kristo sa pagtahak ng landas na ito (Things have just started...and like Christ, he‘s
already with us in our journey)… ―For the Greater Glory of the Rising Christ!‖
May God continue to shower His blessings to You as we pray for your intentions.
Because of Your generosity, You have helped us a lot! Thank you and God Bless you Always!

MGA SANGKAP
NA NAGBIBIGAY LASA SA
AKIN
Isang Kwentong Komunidad Bilang Kapatiran Sa
Pananampalataya
Eugene S. Aboga
seminaryo, marami akong nasaksihan, nalaman at natutunan
Therese of the child Jesus ― I will spend my heaven in doing
good things on earth.‖ Ang aking pananaw tungkol
Ikaw!
THE PAIN THAT HEALS
Arjay Cecilio
Our teacher in English said that she was the person
who was not a novena lover. For her, prayer was
something personal that‘s why she was not praying with
books or written prayers. Some people believed that
―prayer is something personal‖ maybe because they
have not recognized the goodness of these prayers.
These kinds of prayers benefit the one who is reciting
them at the same time it gives praise and thanksgiving to
the Lord. It also serves as an act of contrition and supplication,
so it means that this kind of prayer is perfect.
One of these novenas is the First Friday Novena or the
devotion to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus which
started in 1674, when the Lord appeared to St. Margaret
Mary and He asked her to prostrate herself to the ground
and share to the agony that He suffered, to console and
to honor his tormented heart. Jesus was weary when His
disciples could not watch even for one hour. See, His
disciples‘ unawareness of what He was doing and what
He felt added great suffering to His agony. So, if we stay
in His presence, praying and meditating, it will lessen
the pain that He experiences.
In our seminary, we began our devotion to the
Sacred Heart of Jesus but we did it in a different way.
We did not use a printed prayer but a silent, contemplative
and personal prayer instead. But it is still a good
prayer because we did what Jesus asked, and that was, to
accompany Him even for one hour and to pray to Him.
We believe that it lessens the heaviness of Jesus‘ heart.
We also made a little sacrifice while doing that. We
woke up in the early hours of the morning despite of
our sleepiness to be able to pray in front of the exposed
Blessed Sacrament. Sometimes, some seminarians fell
asleep while praying, that is why we were not the only
one taking vigil. We have companions who keep vigil
with us also. We are reminded by the biblical passage
from St. Matthew 26:40, that says, ―could you not stay
awake with Me for even an hour?‖ This reminds us that
we have to be awake the whole hour according to our
schedule. Of course, we have schedule but that was not
the reason why we were doing those sacrifices. We had
to organize the schedule to keep it in order and follow it
religiously. Remember that Jesus brought only three of
His disciples. We practiced not only those sacrifices but
we also observed fasting and abstinence every first Friday.
Abstinence is a common sacrifice that we undergo.
We fast and abstain not because we provide food for
tomorrow or because our priests here are greedy or frugal
but because we want to partake the sufferings of
Christ.

June - October 2009
We want to offer our growling stomach to Christ for
the souls in purgatory, for the sinners and for other intentions.
We fast so that we can experience the feeling if we do not
have something to fill our growling stomach like what other
people feel around our seminary. Sometimes we are not conscious
of eating. We fill our stomach and not mindful of the
left over foods. Sometimes we throw it or give it to the dogs,
pigs, and chicken without realizing that it can be eaten the
next day. If we feel how they felt, we will be conscious. We
will be reminded that there are many people suffering from
hunger. Maybe they eat once or twice instead of thrice a day,
or maybe they eat only a small portion and it has to be divided
so that all the members of the family could eat. Sometimes
we are complaining if the food that we have on our table
was only few or if it was the left over of yesterday‘s meal.
We have to be reminded by these things so that we could be
thankful to God for the food that we receive and enjoy on our
table.
After Jesus appeared to St. Margaret Mary, He also
privately appeared to Sister Natalia of Hungary and because
of His infinite goodness and mercy, He made promises to
those who will venerate His Sacred Heart. Some of those
promises are: peace, harmony, love will reign in their soul
and in their families, protection of their families from scandals,
disappointments and injustices, the poor will receive
shelter and food, the body will be freed from the temptations
of the world and from sin. So, if we do what Jesus wants, we
will gain those promises. We will be blessed, and in that case,
When I was thinking how to start writing this article, it
bothered me because I do not know what I was going to write.
But there is one question that enters my mind and I should need
to answer it and impart it to all of you, my dear readers. The
question is this. How to attain a good relationship in the community
and to uplift the vocation of all the seminarians?
Life in the seminary is very challenging. It is challenging
because every individual that lives in the seminary comes
from a different place, culture and tradition around the world.
This is also a challenge even for the priests who try their best to
adjust themselves to the unique characteristic of each of their
seminarian. They always remind all the seminarians on how to
build a good community that can help strengthen their vocation.
I asked some of the seminarians about their opinion on
this matter. Brother Kevin C. Daborbor, a second year seminar-
Herodion Gapas
15
we are not sacrificing because sacrificing is suffering or
being hurt for the benefit of others. On the other side, it
is a sacrifice in the sense that we get hurt for other‘s
sake. In the seminary, these are the sacrifices we offer
to God every first Friday in honor of His Most Sacred
Heart. Though we experience sufferings in this life, we
can offer these personally to God. Pain brings you suffering,
it can hurt you but if your motive is to offer it to
the Lord for His sake, it will bring you comfort. It can
bring you peace in your heart. Pain heals itself if we do
it for good.
Friday Devotion:
NO MEAT PLEASE!
ian, contends that ―In order for us to attain a good
relationship in our community, we have to accept
one another. There should be unity and understanding
because all of us came from various places.‖
He continues saying that: ―every one of us should
obey our formators, because they are the chosen
people of God to mold all of us.‖ ―Lastly,‖ he
quoted a passage in the Bible that says: ―never forget
to pray always, because prayer is the best way
to praise and adore our God. He is our Creator; we
are His creatures. We pray to thank Him for all the
things He has done for us. We pray to ask pardon
for our sins. We pray to ask the blessing and graces
we need.‖(1 Thes. 5:17-18). Be happy at all the
times; pray constantly; and for all things, give
thanks to God, because this is what God expects
you to do in Christ Jesus.
Brother Mardy Aguilar, a fourth year

seminarian said that in order to have a good relationship, one
must become a good role model to every one. Other seminarians
said that we also need to be honest and to follow the rules
and regulations of the seminary even though our formators are
not around.
Father Nestor ―Jun‖ Abog Jr. CRM, the former superior
of the seminary showed us his simplicity, generosity, and kindness
that helped us strengthen our vocation.
Our new superior, Father Jason Caganap CRM, on the
other hand, taught us to become more responsible, active and
participative. He helps us to develop our skills, talents and creativity
that can help us build a good relationship with our fellow
seminarians.
Openness is
very important in
every seminary setting.
Frankly speaking,
it is difficult to
adapt to all of these
because we have
our own struggles,
weaknesses and
challenges in life.
Sometimes, these
could bring us down but it could also help us to become
stronger in our faith.
My classmate and my friend always reminds me to be
patient, trusting and prayerful. Everything that happens in our
journey is in accordance to God‘s plan. We just have to ask
Him and let His Holy Spirit guide our path towards heaven.
Our priests, Fathers Jason, Ted and Gerry who are always
in our midst can lead our way to be like them in the future.
Through them, I firmly believe and trust God that there‘s
always a possibility that we could overcome and survive all the
trials and challenges that we are going to encounter in the future
because they themselves experienced the same when they
were still seminarians. I also believe that they love us and they
are there to form us in the image of Jesus, our Risen Lord.
I am asking your benevolent heart to please help all the
seminarians of the Adorno Fathers Formation House. Please
include us in your prayers that all of us may persevere in our
studies and to become a true, honest, and effective priest someday.
“We thank God for all of you…
We continually remember…
Your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love,
And your endurance inspired
By hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Did you know that,
―because of the wrong delivery of the letter, the
Order of the Clerics Regular Minor was founded?‖
St. Francis Caracciolo is considered as one
of the principal founders of the Order. He was not
really part of the plan when Augustine Adorno and
Fabrizio Caracciolo tried to found Religious Order.
Adorno sent Fabrizio a letter which contained their
plan, but it was mistakably delivered to Ascanio
Caracciolo (Francis Caracciolo) by a youngster.
Because of Francisco‘s zeal to serve the Lord
wholeheartedly, he joined in with the two and the
rest is history.
Did you know that,
at the early age of the foundation of the Clerics
Regular Minor, the founders and the members of
the Order, observed the ―around the clock adoration
before the Blessed Sacrament?‖
―The founding members of the Order
(Augustine Adorno and Francisco Caracciolo)
were zealous promoters of the around the clock
prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. Augustine
Adorno is the promoter of the ‗orazione circolare
continua,‘ which speaks about the mental prayer
which must be organized in a manner that would
give all members of the Order the opportunity to
pray before the Blessed Sacrament in a continuous
manner during the day and if possible during the
night.
―This type of adoration was to begin in the
morning right after the second meditation in common
and was to last for a period of one hour, one
religious following another. Absolute silence was
to be observed whenever the religious were praying‖
Kimber Kaye Reyes
pangalang San Miguel ay nangangahulugang, ―Who is like
paghahanda. Kasabay na pagdiriwang ng Kapiyestahan ay ang
Inagurasyon ng Novitiate House. Pinamunuan ito ni Padre Jason
Caganap, CRM (ang Rector ng Bahay Pormasyon) kasama
Fr. Jason officiates the blessing of the oratory and the
new room of the Novices.
A tribute prayer made for our former superior Fr. Jun Abog on the day of
his departure
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit
Lord Jesus, You were once the shepherd of the apostles
And You had to leave them,
You left them Your Holy Spirit to guide them
to put into practice what You taught them.
With the help of the Virgin Mary,
they built Your Church as good soldiers could do.
Now the time has come for our superior to leave us
You have given him a new mission
We ask You Jesus Christ, as he journey,
To keep him in Your grace.
We ask you Mama Mary, to keep him under your mantle.
Help us, O lord to put into actions
What he taught us in the name of your Son
To become good soldiers of Christ
Just as he is with humility and love. Amen
