directly tie results observed to the specific DRG
investments that are being evaluated

What is the role of the GPS office
Ensure the production of a final M&E report
that:
-Meet contractual obligation and professional
standards
-Fairly and accurately assess the DRG projects.
-Provide useful and credible responses to the
question “ To what extend has the project
under consideration achieved the MDG goal
(s) of interest?”

How long should the report be?
Provide adequate details to effectively inform
key audiences about what was learned from
the M&E exercise and recommend
substantive ways for improving DRG
investment programming.
Clarity and succinctness would lead to higher
readership since most people do not have the
time to read long reports. Reserve longer text
only for investments of very high value and
complexity.

To attribute results to specific DRG
projects/investments, it would be
necessary to eliminate other explanations
to establish causal inferences. The M&E
report should rely on assumptions, logical
arguments and empirical arguments in
reaching this goal.

What should the report look like?
Before starting to write the report,
consultations should have already taken place
with the OSAP office to elaborate on the
structure and content of the report in order
to gain an understanding of the expectations
from DRG partners and reach an agreement
on the time-frame for completion.
The outline that has been agreed for the
report should be strictly followed.
