Might use this in a ventral hip luxation: if
legs were to splay, the head of femur
would fall out of bottom of acetabulum
Medial shoulder
instability diagnosis:
•Excessive abduction
(> 35°) when
shoulder and elbow
extended
To test for medial instability: extend limb forward first, then abduct.
Shouldn't be able to abduct beyond 35-45 degrees, and should feel
resistance at the top. If there is stretching or tearing, you can abduct it
further, and you don't feel a firm end feel.
Soft wraps on the antebrachium only-be
careful not to impede blood flow
