The PCAP protocol supports location services in UTRAN. The PCAP message
set is applicable to the Iupc interface between the SAS and the RNC. PCAP
signaling messages are transported over SS7 using the services of the Signaling
Connection Control Part (SCCP).
The Positioning Calculation Application Part (PCAP)
protocol module is suitable for supporting location
services over SCCP in UTRAN. PCAP implements
the Iupc interface between the SAS and RNC as
defined by 3GPP.
The PCAP protocol module is fully integrated in
Tieto’s Signaling Software products.

Interface
PCAP provides Java J2SE library functions
for operation packing & unpacking.
The Java J2SE API provides a class library based on
an easy-to-use Event interface (subclasses of the
java.util.EventObject class). It provides classes for
decoding & encoding of PCAP operations and is
used together with the SCCP Java API that handles
the transport functionality.
