Automation
Trim optimisation is an up-to-the-minute, multistage
algorithm module focused on automatic creation of
cutting plans and material requirement lists. However,
manual operations are also possible at each planning
stage.
The system extensively supports the planner in checking
and changing cutting plans or with single figures. While
the planner is able to change and re-enter all details
of the cutting plan manually, the system automatically
calculates the corresponding actual planning parameters
such as production quantities, waste figures and order
completion. In addition, it is possible to work with and
compare several alternative cutting plans (solutions) for
the same problem. So all kinds of cutting processes
(like winders, re-winders, sheet cutters, duplex cutters,
guillotines, etc) are supported and patterns are created
automatically for all stages at once.
Optimisation
All algorithms of TIPS Trim are based on the latest
mathematical methods utilizing more than 25 years of
development experience in trim optimisation.
This includes the know-how of the planners and the
specific requirements of the production processes.

Re-trimming and
Quality-based Re-trimming
In addition to the planned trimming process TIPS Trim
also supports all kinds of re-planning processes during
on-going production, typically known as re-trimming.
This allows planners to react easily and immediately to
changing situations, like order cancellations, production
problems, priority changes, etc. TIPS re-trimming also
considers the available quality data and measurements of
existing raw materials, like bad spots on machine reels,
and allows creation of optimal alternative options.
