and comprehensive advice to ensure that our

Our technical advisory service puts users directly
in touch with the right specialist for their individual
requirements – either on the telephone
or face-to-face. The team of Mitutoyo advisors
is quite happy to arrange a visit to your
premises, depending on the problem to be
solved.
Planning to suit requirements, extensive project
planning and specific engineering prior to making
the decision to purchase are becoming
increasingly important, especially in the field of
production-integrated measurement. A precise
design and adaptation of the systems is absolutely
crucial, since one measuring task rarely
resembles the next, especially in complex manufacturing
processes. Numerous aspects need
to taken into account, starting with an evaluation
of the working conditions right up to

Maintenance service:
To keep things working to plan
Regular maintenance – generally once a year –
in line with a fixed Mitutoyo maintenance plan
ensures that measuring devices remain accurate
and reliable, and last for a long time. A maintenance
contract gives users both the assurance
of being able to plan their quality costs, and
the status as registered customers of Mitutoyo.
And they do not even need to check the service
schedule themselves – the maintenance service
calls automatically when the next check is due.
Larger devices and systems are tested and
serviced on site. This reduces interruptions in
production and helps customers to operate
efficiently. Mitutoyo‘s hotline is available to
provide specific support if questions or problems
arise outside the regular maintenance
periods.
Software maintenance contract
The low-cost software maintenance contract
offered by Mitutoyo ensures that the programs
behind the high-performance measuring systems
are always reliably up to date. This maintenance
service keeps the software on the customer
equipment up to date with the latest
program developments – automatically and at
no extra cost. Following expiry of the warranty
period, it also guarantees regular software
maintenance. In addition, users benefit from
considerable deductions in the prices of new
program versions.
Repair service: Original, professional,
fast and calculable
Downtimes or even shutdowns drastically
reduce both cost and workflow efficiency. Fast
repairs of any problems that arise on measuring
equipment are therefore an important
benchmark for measuring the service strength
of the equipment manufacturer.
Mitutoyo‘s measuring equipment is repaired
either in one of the company‘s own service
workshops or – especially when the equipment
in question is a coordinate measuring and
vision measuring, or even a stationary form,
surface or contour measuring device – on site
at the customer‘s premises. The central spare
parts warehouse guarantees that spare parts
are supplied without delay. Its comprehensive
stocks enable it to guarantee virtually 100 percent
ability to deliver.
Both the staff in Mitutoyo‘s service workshops
and the mobile service teams are intensively
trained and experienced specialists who will
ensure the prompt and technically optimal
repair of your equipment.

Product training:
Getting to know the ins and outs
As a full-range provider, Mitutoyo offers its
customers the entire universe of length measurement
technology. As such there are practically
no limitations on the technical options for
solving virtually any measuring task. Provided
users are aware of the capabilities of their
measuring equipment and familiar with all of
their functions.
In order to ensure that this is indeed the case,
Mitutoyo offers a wide range of product training
schemes and seminars.
On top of these, both existing and potential
Mitutoyo customers and everyone involved in
measuring technology can attend advanced
training schemes, seminars and courses at
Mitutoyo.

Part program development:
Customized software
In addition to pure measurement commissions,
the specialists in this service division can also
develop individual measuring programs to customer
specifications.
This service is always useful when users have
to perform very specific measuring tasks but
do not have their own programmers. In such
cases, Mitutoyo assumes responsibility for customizing
the entire software to the customer‘s
specific requirements – and, if requested, for
providing the operating personnel with comprehensive
training on the new program.
External part program development by
Mitutoyo is frequently the ideal solution when
ongoing work processes of the users may not
be interrupted or hindered by programming
works on site.
Measurement commissions:
The alternative solution to owning
your own measuring equipment
Commissioned measurements of standard
production and sample parts, and of ruled
geometries and freeform surfaces is a service
offered by Mitutoyo to respond comprehensively
to the growing demands on production
measuring technology.
The very best equipment for all dimensions is
available to perform these measurements in
state of the art measuring rooms. The calibrations
offer the best possible accuracy for measuring
equipment and standards. Hand-held
measuring devices, gauges and 3-D work pieces
can be tested – in stable, climate controlled
ambient conditions, of course.

Certification – Calibration – Advanced Training
The calibration service
– all sizes in the correct measure
Mitutoyo has set up its own calibration laboratories
for measuring and test devices in order to
constantly guarantee high quality. Experienced
measuring technicians will carefully carry out
the calibrations of your measuring and test
instruments with the greatest thoroughness.
Our calibration service ensures the reset of
Mitutoyo measuring and test instruments to
the linear standard. All calibration procedures
correspond to the quality requirements according
to DIN ISO 9000 (and later norms).

In addition to its DIN EN ISO 9001 : 2000 certification,
the measuring and calibration service
offered by Mitutoyo Europe GmbH is also
accredited in accordance with the international
DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 : 2005 standard.
As part of this certification, the German
Calibration Service (DKD) has accredited
Mitutoyo‘s calibration laboratory in the following
areas: Parallel gauge blocks made of steel
and ceramic, groove depth, roughness, stylus
instruments, dial indicators for inside and
outside measurement, depth calipers, height
measurement and marking devices, coordinate
measuring machines and setting scales for outside
micrometers.

Mitutoyo – Research and Development
Demonstrating responsibility
Mitutoyo‘s measuring equipment demonstrates
measurably more responsibility for the environment
across its entire life cycle. Many of our
hand-held measuring devices are the only ones
of their kind to bear the “Blue Angel” seal confirming
that they are particularly environmentally
friendly.
For example the solar powered “A
SUPER Caliper IP-67” which is equipped with
a capacitor to store energy. The extremely low
light intensity of just 60 Lux is all it needs for
environmentally friendly operation without
batteries. And it will remain ready for operation
for another 80 minutes even if the light
supply drops below 60 Lux.
Or the Electrical and Electronic Equipment
Act (ElektroG) as a further example: The act
stipulates that all electrical equipment can be
returned to the manufacturer or distributor
free of charge after use and must be disposed
of in an environmentally friendly manner. This
rule also applies to power or battery operated
measuring devices.
All of the electrically powered measuring
devices offered by Mitutoyo in Europe since
March 24, 2006 are marked accordingly and
can be disposed of free of charge using the
individual return system.

Innovations for the measuring
universe
Over the past decades, Mitutoyo has made a
name for itself around the world as one of the
most innovative providers of length measurement
technology.
Mitutoyo invests considerable time, technology
and human effort into researching and developing
measurement solutions for present and
future quality assurance.
To this end, the corporation operates six proprietary
research and development centers
around the world, two of which are located in
Japan, the USA and Europe, respectively.
European R&D activities are focused on the
Mitutoyo Research Center Europe B.V. in the
Netherlands, and on the German Computer
Technology Laboratory CTL in Oberndorf on
the River Neckar, which focuses solely on developing
software for three-coordinate measuring
technology and, in doing so, sets global standards.
This global research and development work
takes all of the important markets into account
and produces equipment offering the very best
in terms of performance, reliability and quality.
