Maintenance service:<br />

Regular maintenance – generally once a year –<br />
in line with a fixed Mitutoyo maintenance plan<br />
ensures that measuring devices remain accurate<br />
and reliable, and last for a long time. A maintenance<br />
contract gives users both the assurance<br />
of being able to plan their quality costs, and<br />
the status as registered customers of Mitutoyo.<br />
And they do not even need to check the service<br />
schedule themselves – the maintenance service<br />
calls automatically when the next check is due.<br />
Larger devices and systems are tested and<br />
serviced on site. This reduces interruptions in<br />
production and helps customers to operate<br />
efficiently. Mitutoyo‘s hotline is available to<br />
provide specific support if questions or problems<br />
arise outside the regular maintenance<br />

Software maintenance contract<br />
The low-cost software maintenance contract<br />
offered by Mitutoyo ensures that the programs<br />
behind the high-performance measuring systems<br />
are always reliably up to date. This maintenance<br />
service keeps the software on the customer<br />
equipment up to date with the latest<br />
program developments – automatically and at<br />
no extra cost. Following expiry of the warranty<br />
period, it also guarantees regular software<br />
maintenance. In addition, users benefit from<br />
considerable deductions in the prices of new<br />
program versions.<br />
Repair service: Original, professional,<br />
fast and calculable<br />
Downtimes or even shutdowns drastically<br />
reduce both cost and workflow efficiency. Fast<br />
repairs of any problems that arise on measuring<br />
equipment are therefore an important<br />
benchmark for measuring the service strength<br />
of the equipment manufacturer.<br />

either in one of the company‘s own service<br />

measuring equipment and familiar with all of<br />

Mitutoyo offers a wide range of product training<br />
schemes and seminars.<br />
On top of these, both existing and potential<br />
Mitutoyo customers and everyone involved in<br />
measuring technology can attend advanced<br />
training schemes, seminars and courses at<br />

Part program development:<br />
Customized software<br />
In addition to pure measurement commissions,<br />
the specialists in this service division can also<br />
develop individual measuring programs to customer<br />
specifications.<br />
This service is always useful when users have<br />
to perform very specific measuring tasks but<br />
do not have their own programmers. In such<br />
cases, Mitutoyo assumes responsibility for customizing<br />
the entire software to the customer‘s<br />
specific requirements – and, if requested, for<br />
providing the operating personnel with comprehensive<br />
training on the new program.<br />
External part program development by<br />
Mitutoyo is frequently the ideal solution when<br />
ongoing work processes of the users may not<br />
be interrupted or hindered by programming<br />

Mitutoyo – Research and Development<br />
Demonstrating responsibility<br />
Mitutoyo‘s measuring equipment demonstrates<br />
measurably more responsibility for the environment<br />
across its entire life cycle. Many of our<br />
hand-held measuring devices are the only ones<br />
of their kind to bear the “Blue Angel” seal confirming<br />
that they are particularly environmentally<br />
friendly.<br />
For example the solar powered “A<br />
SUPER Caliper IP-67” which is equipped with<br />
a capacitor to store energy. The extremely low<br />
light intensity of just 60 Lux is all it needs for<br />
environmentally friendly operation without<br />
batteries. And it will remain ready for operation<br />
for another 80 minutes even if the light<br />
supply drops below 60 Lux.<br />
Or the Electrical and Electronic Equipment<br />
Act (ElektroG) as a further example: The act<br />
stipulates that all electrical equipment can be<br />
returned to the manufacturer or distributor<br />
free of charge after use and must be disposed<br />
of in an environmentally friendly manner. This<br />
rule also applies to power or battery operated<br />
measuring devices.<br />
All of the electrically powered measuring<br />
devices offered by Mitutoyo in Europe since<br />
March 24, 2006 are marked accordingly and<br />
can be disposed of free of charge using the<br />
individual return system.<br />

universe<br />
Over the past decades, Mitutoyo has made a<br />
name for itself around the world as one of the<br />
most innovative providers of length measurement<br />
technology.<br />
Mitutoyo invests considerable time, technology<br />
and human effort into researching and developing<br />

To this end, the corporation operates six proprietary<br />
research and development centers<br />
around the world, two of which are located in<br />
Japan, the USA and Europe, respectively.<br />
European R&D activities are focused on the<br />
Mitutoyo Research Center Europe B.V. in the<br />
Netherlands, and on the German Computer<br />
<strong>Technology</strong> Laboratory CTL in Oberndorf on<br />
the River Neckar, which focuses solely on developing<br />
software for three-coordinate measuring<br />
technology and, in doing so, sets global standards.<br />
This global research and development work<br />
takes all of the important markets into account<br />
and produces equipment offering the very best<br />
in terms of performance, reliability and quality.<br />
