The Thai Shipbuilding and Repairing Association was formed on December 

30, 1976, when it registered with the trade Association Registration Office as the 

“Thai Shipbuilders and Repairers Association” The first office of the Association was 

at the headpuarters of Bangkok Shipbuilding and Engineering Co.,Ltd. 492 Trok 

Tonpoh,Charoenkrung Road, Yannawa, Bangkok The 12 co-founding members of the 

Association Were :

3. The Sahaisant Co., Ltd. 

4. Royal Trade Co., Ltd. 

5. Karn Chang Neramitr Part., Ltd.

8. Songserm Service Co., Ltd.

OBJECTIVES 

Objectives in establishing the Association are to set 

up a centre for coordination and meetings of members to 

exchange opinions and information and to jointly solve any 

possible problems. The Association also acts an representative 

of members in contacting government agencies concerned for 

any for any privileges and fairness. 

The Association later moved to the headpuarters 

of The Sahaisant Co., Ltd. 158/2, Sukhothai Road, the 

Association currently has 42 memnrt companies. Present.

ASSOCIATION PRESIDENTS 

The first Persident of the Association was Mr. Songphan Wongthongsri, 

from 1976 to 1981 

The second President was Dr. Chaijudh karnasuta from 1981 to 1984. 

The third President was Captain Sawaeng Boonyoung, from 1984 to 

1988. 

The fourth President was Vice Admiral Yongyudt Supakalin, from 1988 to 

2000. 

The fifth and incumbent President is Captan, Pramuan Boonyapan from 

2000 to the present.

POLICIES OF THE ASSOCIATION 

In 1988, the then-Executive Board of the Association drafted a package of 

Package of poIicies in runging the Association and the package has been enforced 

until now. These policies are : 

1. The Association is a coordination center members to help members 

operate their Businesses smoothly for progress, development and stability. 

2. The Association shall increase the number of members to boost the 

stability Of the Association 

3. The Association shall equally support activities of all members. 

4. The Association shall create and bind relationship among members 

by Organizing meetings to exchange views among executive directors of the 

Association and members concerned with suitable periods of time or asnecessary, 

to join forces in building up bargaining power to support members’ business 

operations. 

5. Knowledgeable persons shall be invited, as and when necessary or 

suitable, to be technical advisers of the Association. 

6. The Association shall occasionally publish data and military affairs, for 

distribution to members. 

7. The Association shall provide advice and suggestions to help solve 

members’ technical problems and problems concerning regulations and requirements 

or government agencies concerned. 

8. The Association shall coordinate with government agencies concerned 

to Obtain privileges and for enactment of necessary laws, regulations or practical 

requirements for the fairness and progress or the shipbuilding and repairing 

industry. 

9. The Association shall coordinate and bind relationships with other 

related institutions, associations and organizations. such as fishery association 

shippingassociations and construction industry associations, to benefit each other. 

10. The Association shall coordinate public relations activities to publicise 

the domestic shipbuilding industry’s performance. Capability and development 

indusrty’’s performance, capability and foreign investor’s confidence in using local 

entrepreneure’ service or to enter into joint venture investment schemes with local 

partners. 

On June 9, 1990. the Association changed its name to the Thai Shipbuilding 

and Repairing Association.
