1.0 Identity


BOMBARDIER<br />

1.1 Logo Breakdown<br />

The middle part of my logo, I combined the inclined trapezoid<br />

shape from the plane, which is usually seen at the tail of the<br />

planes, and so it should represent the plane part of my logo.<br />

Also, with the inclined trapezoid, I relatively put the lines, which<br />

represents the trains. It is the railroad that trains use to travel<br />

with to be able to transport. I also put 3 empty spaces within it<br />

to represent what sustainability means to them. They have their<br />

three pillars which are Excellence, People, and Environment. I<br />

thought that it is important to include this information because<br />

sustainability one of the biggest goals that Bombardier is trying<br />

to achieve. For the recreational vehicles, I represent them by<br />

giving a gestalt method of saying that my logo is round which<br />

will symbolize the wheel from the vehicles.<br />

For the minor element of my logo, I added 10 small gears on<br />

the right side, because I like to achieve the industrial look and<br />

make it obvious that Bombardier is a company for industrial<br />

crafts. I put 10 of them to represent the UN Global Impact and<br />

they are abiding their principles. I incorporated this to show that<br />

they are not only manufacturing things that will only do good to<br />

themselves, but also for the society and the environment. On<br />

the left side of my logo, I put different weights of curved lines to<br />

show the shifting of the gears. I did this to show motion, and I<br />

did 3 parts to represent their three main crafts and in the middle<br />

with an extended line at the end to represent the recreational<br />

vehicle part and show that they are doing more than one<br />

recreational vehicles.

1.2 Typography<br />

The logo used Haettenschweiler (Regular) as its Typeface.<br />

Haettenschweiler do not have any other font weights, so it may not be<br />

altered with any other similar types. The type is set in 12 pt as its<br />

minumun size with a kerning of 20pt.<br />

The typeface in the logo cannot be retyped due to its fixed kerning<br />

and sizing. The logo is available in a standard electronic file that is<br />

downloadable in the website.<br />

1.3 Colours<br />

Pantone 295 C is used for the signature logo. If colours is not available<br />

black can be used in a plain white background and use white for a<br />

black background.<br />

In instances where you can only use one colour, use white for coloured<br />

background until 60% less of its original colour, and use black if the<br />

coloured background is 40% or less of its original colour.<br />

3.2 Permitted Arrangements<br />

For vertical designs, the original logo can be used. If design is flush right<br />

or left, you can align the logo and the wordmark in a fluhed right manner<br />

If any other ways, you can use align the logo and the wordmark<br />

horizontally to fit into the design.<br />

If altering the postion of the logo, make sure to keep the .57 inches clear<br />

space of the logo and the wordmark. Also, be familiar with the safe zones of<br />

the logo use. If cannot be done properly, download logos from the website.<br />
