Many dedicated hours, litres of coffee and intense brain damage we enjoyed together 

working on this new magazine. We rode for miles, never truly knowing our destination, 

all in suspense to find that one thing worthy of sharing with you. And here we are! 

This magazine is packed with the newest Brunotti Fall-Winter ’12/13 collection. 

It’s a new array with a more mature, cool, technical and authentic look. As always we 

are determined to making it real, holding on to our core focus and our brand’s roots. 

We embrace the brand values, such as respect for planet, quality, authenticity and every- 

thing the boardsports lifestyle offers. This resulted in a collection that resembles what 

Brunotti is truly about: making the boardsports lifestyle widely accessible for everyone. 

Neo vintage are the keywords for this collection. Bear in mind that vintage does not 

mean old and destroyed, but quality with personality. It is a luxury: a perfect fit, nice 

details, qualitative materials, hidden features and a personal touch. These aesthetics 

combined with technology give the snowboard lifestyle this luxurious edge. In the 

collection you will find the classic influences visible in a reinvented way. 

The magazine is finalized, fresh from the presses. Now we just 

need some fresh pow! Sometimes you just have to overcome 

some obstacles to see the right direction. Luckily some things 

in life are clear and for sure. And we are sure as hell that 

winter will come again, ‘cause the snow must go on!

1985-1987 

Claudio effortlessly turns from surfboards and beachwear to 

developing functional and technical snowboarding outfits. These are 

based on his personal experiences and those of other snowboard 

riders, and consequently meeting the needs of extreme riders. 

1979 

The 23 year old Italian Windsurfer 

Claudio Brunotti settles in Scheveningen 

(Ned) after a holiday tour through 

Europe where he develops his passion 

for surfing. He experiments with materials 

in his Scheveningen workshop 

and designs his own windsurfboards. 

He enters several prestigious surfing 

competitions and wins world cup titles.

1980-1985 

Brunotti Boards gains popularity. Claudio 

starts selling his boards. Before long, 

he has established a good reputation and 

his promotional T-shirts become collectors’ 

items. The contemporary clothes collection 

with a surfy look and Italian touch take the 

market by storm. 

1988 

Claudio eventually passes on the ins and 

outs of board shaping to Jinne Sietsma, 

a real Scheveningen surfer. Claudio’s tips 

enabled him to refine shaping techniques 

and carry on the strong tradition of Brunotti 

Boards. Meanwhile, Claudio begins to long 

for home and he moves to Italy.

ThE UlTImaTE dREam 

Of a wORld Champ 

In the beginning of my kiteboarding career (2006) I won 

two PRKA stops and ended up 3rd overall in the PKRA 

kiteboard world tour. Things looked promising, but that 

winter everything changed. I injured my knee. At first it 

did not look that bad, I did some rehab and started 

competing in the 2007 PKRA again. But maybe that 

wasn’t a good idea... after competing in the first 3 stops I 

snapped my knee string just before my heat in Cabarete, 

Dominican Republic. 

I went home with a knee that was triple the size of my 

right knee. I thought it would get better in a few days... 

But that didn’t happen. My knee was still hurting and 

after a week I decided to go to the doctor. he told me I 

snapped my knee string and therefore couldn’t kite for at 

least 6 months. But I thought it could go quicker, so I was 

back on the water after 4 months. not a smart move! I 

snapped it again. 

At that moment I really thought it was the end of my 

career. Some people thought the same. And who could 

blame them? It was stupid not to listen to the doctor. 

Didn’t I take my career serious enough? Luckily most 

people kept supported me and after a knee operation I 

got myself together and had only one goal: be back at the 

top, and win the world title! 

But of course there is a whole story of the days I could 

just dream of the PKRA. In 2001, after I saw people kiting 

on the beach, I started saving money and bought myself 

my first kiteboard. It was a Brunotti, I earned it myself 

and was super happy with it! After hours and hours of 

kiteboarding my level was going up, and I was getting 

better. Jinne discovered me and contacted me, man I 

was stoked! 

I went over to Jinne’s shaping room and he asked what I 

wanted. That was a first for me. I never really thought 

about the specs of a board and what they exactly cause 

the board to do in different conditions. So Jinne explained 

me. I was impressed about the fact that he was actually 

making a custom board for me! After a week I could pick 

it up and start riding on it. 

That winter, 2003/2004 I was invited to come to Brazil 

for a photo shoot. It was a big trip, my first time in a 

plane, the first time without parents and I was just 13 

years old! So you can imagine that I was pretty stoked 

they asked me! After the trip Brunotti started promoting 

me and I started growing in the kiteboarding scene. 

In 2009 I came back and I wanted to do good in the 

competitions, I was training over the winter and I felt 

good and in shape. The year started good with a 2nd 

place. I kept placing 2nd and 3rd during the different 

PKRA stops that year. So I ended up 2nd overall and I 

was super happy with that result. I think it was great, 

specially if you keep in mind that it was my comeback 

year. 

With this result I only wanted to go 1 step higher. 

I wanted to be 1st in 2010. But maybe I over motivated 

myself, things where not going how I planned it. The 

whole season the results just not stable enough to get a 

good overall result. So in the end I had to take 3rd place 

overall. 

That made me think about my career again. Was I up for 

it, and what do I need to change? So in 2011 I changed 

some of my gear and trained on riding more stable. I 

learned from my mistakes! 

From the first PKRA in 2011 on I felt I was in good shape 

and things where running smoothly. Winning every 

single tour stop gave me enough points to secure the 

world title already after 5 events! I couldn’t be more 

happy! But, realizing one goal only does one thing to a 

human. Setting new, even higher goals. So from that 

point on there came an other goal. A goal that nobody 

ever realized. A dream that seems impossible... But all 

the ingredients seem to be there. Would I be able to 

make it? Could I realize my ultimate dream...?
