I Can’t Have Bannock but the Beaver Has a Dam Snack Time Recipe – Bannock This is just one way to make bannock. You may have a favourite recipe you want to use instead. You will need: 4 cups flour 1 cup sugar 4 tablespoons oil or lard Water (about 2 cups) 1 cup raisin 4 teaspoons salt 4 teaspoons baking powder 1) Sit the children around the table. Put bowls with the flour, sugar and raisins in the middle, as well as other ingredients. 2) Allow each child to be responsible for adding an ingredient. Get the children to count out loud as they add each cup or teaspoon of an ingredient. 3) Mix together the dry ingredients, followed by the oil or lard, which you can rub in. Add the water, and mix the dough. You may need to add more water if the dough is too dry. 4) Turn out the dough onto a floured counter. Knead it for about 2 minutes. 5) Flatten the bannock out until it is about 2cm thick. Place it on a cookie sheet. 6) Bake at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes, flipping it over part way through.
